don't they sense if the key fob is inside the truck or not? I would imagine if you remove the "bubble" the truck wont know where the fob is and it might not start

I KNOW they sense when the fob is inside as you can't lock a Jeep with the fob in the vehicle - the electric locks don't cooperate. My wife found that out when she THOUGHT her fob was in her pocket - and it was actually in a jacket pocket in her Jeep and she couldn't figure out why her Jeep refused to lock when she pressed the button on the door handle. She was getting upset with her Jeep not working correctly until she discovered where her fob was........... and then it turned into sort of a - 'oops, my bad' sort of thing.

You can still lock it with the inside lock button, then close the door with the key fob inside. It works pretty slick to lock the fob inside...

And you tried this - why?

My Chevy beeped at you if you tried such a thing.

Just to see if it was possible.
It is.
No beeps, no nothin'

I'd say Jeep has a bit of an issue, in this age of electronics they actually allow that.
Unless there's an honest, viable, serious and important reason someone would want to do that?
Maybe if you are being carjacked you toss the fob inside and lock the door? No carjacker would be upset by that, they'd simply walk away foiled by your wisdom. So maybe that's why Jeep said - hey, let's add this FEATURE - you can SAFELY store your fob in the truck so it can't be lost or stolen!

Maybe there's a reason the rest of us are just too dumb to see!

So instead of a relocation..
I should ask Benny if he has them in stock?

you might be able to relocate the three towards the back to increase the size of the "bubble". move the 2 that are between the doors back behind the passenger door and relocate the middle one back towards the tailgate more. not sure if that would work but sounds plausible, right? I'm rooting for you, lol.

If you leave the fob in the Jeep, lock the doors from the inside lock switch with the door open, as soon as you close the door, they should automatically unlock. If yours is not doing this, then there’s something wrong with the fobik safe feature of the BCM.

:captain: Ask me what? Do you want to buy extra passive entry antennas?

And of course Veterians Day and its raining..
Yep how much are they thinking I could parallel with one of the others to expand the reception and reach the tailgate.

Keep in mind, the sets of antennas serve different purposes on the rf hub. The two that are inside the cab are the ones that pick up on the fob inside the vehicle, and allow the push button to operate once they see the fob. The two in the doors pick up on the fob outside the vehicle for proximity, and allow the door handles to operate when they see the fob. They also differentiate whether the fob is inside or outside so the fobik safe feature functions. If you are trying to add a tailgate proximity antenna, you can use either antenna part number (they’re all around $8), but you would tie it into one of the door antenna circuits.

I take it under advisement.. order placed
my plan is to connect up to the one on the passenger side and move it back till it picks up the FOB when I am at the tailgate. See if everything else still functions. If something isn’t working I’ll try with the one from the center rear.
