I might be competing with “Backwoodsreaider” for parts who posted previously about the Faricy Boys in CO Springs. I am waiting for the fix also. They just told me parts wouldn’t be available until December 7th at the earliest.

Many dealers send them out with tire pressures 40 psi or over. Mine were something like 41-42, way over-inflated.

36 is where I run the A/T Rubicon tires I use in winter, 38 is where I run stock Overland H/T tires.
I drop the pressure in mine today. Hopefully it’s going to be lot better.

I know many of you have already reported back but I had the tsb done. My dealer was very supportive and worked to get the best timeliness that we could. Many are experiencing long wait times. I would recommend finding a dealer that will work with you. Even if you have to drive a long way.

My original service appointment for the TSB was on 8/18/20 (the TSB was released on 8/10). I'm still waiting. I've started stopping by in person to get updates. I stopped by on Friday (11/13) and they showed me the waiting list on the service managers computer. In theory, my gearbox is the next one to be ordered. But since they can only order 1 per month, it may not arrive before the end of the year.

What's frustrating is that it seems like early on, folks in other areas didn't have the crazy wait. They just went in and got the repair within a week or two. I feel sorry for the 10-15 people on the waiting list behind me at the dealer... at the current pace they are over a year from getting the repair done.

Not sure if it's been discussed yet... does any one know what the difference is between the JL and the JT gear box? They are different part #s in the TSB. It seems like most components in the JT front end are the same as the JL, so I thought it was interested that the gear box is different. Is the current (old model) gear box different from the JL?

Number of turns lock to lock. Jt one is faster since its longer wheelbase. The jl is slower lock to lock for shorter wheelbase.

That makes me feel a bit better. They originally told me they would order it today, but I called in to make sure they did order it and now they are saying December 6/7. At first I thought they just bumped me for someone else.

My dealer (ADAMS JEEP) just told me the same thing. Jeep cancelled all their orders and they don't know when they can reorder again yet.

I signed paperwork Saturday evening for a smoking deal on 2020 JTR and asked about getting this TSB done before taking delivery and was told "The fix created a secondary problem and that FCA is working on a second fix" and was advised to wait. The new issue seems to be discussed in a couple of other threads talking about "notchy" steering after TSB. Seems like this could be the reason for cancelled orders.

So there are two bad steering boxes?! I thought the "notchy" steering was because the tech didn't fill the power steering fluid correctly? Do we have to lookout for another TSB to fix this TSB??

The way it was described to me is that in long right turn, the steering would "stop working". The Service Manager that I spoke to didn't know what the outcome would be but that FCA was working on a fix for the fix...

Dariene,

Thanks for the reply. Will do. I did get my Jeep back and they just did the Updated ECU flash. I have not gotten an explanation on why they did not do the Steering Box update. My service advisor was off when I picked it up. I have emailed him and just waiting on his reply. Once I hear something will post. Thanks.
