Hello,
It was to my surprise to hear about the Wrangler 392 having 3.73 gears with 33 inch tires (assuming 285/70/17). In my own current situation, I am in the market for tires for my Gladiator Sport with 3.73 gears. Hearing that the 392 will have 33s gave me some comfort that even from the factory, Jeep will put 33s on 3.73s. This gave me comfort that 3.73s will be okay on the 285/70/17 tires that I plan to put on them. Although, I read that this is being done on the 392 because the extra power/torque allows for 4.10s to not be needed on the 392. Does anyone know how much of this is true/accurate? Am I wrong for feeling more comfortable with 285/70/17 on 3.73 because Jeep just did it with the 392? I just am unsure how much an impact that power will actually make. Is the V6 and the 8 speed capable of rolling 285/70/17 for a long time while maintaining reliability? I have read so much about this, some people with JK's ran 3.73 with 35s and had no issues. Some ran JK's on 33s with 3.73 with issues. I understand that it is all about perspective and expectations, but overall this announcement made me feel better about my decision to go with 33 in. 285/70/17 tires on my Gladiator with 3.73 gears.
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thank you.
