Need advice - Best "upgraded" tire size on stock Sport S rims?

I'm running BFG KO2s on mine in a 315 70 17 which is basically a 35 inch tire. No issues at all with this size on stock wheels. When they wear out I'll get 37 12.5 17 BFG KO2S and they will be fine as well.

Nice...this is something I was considering doing. However, I need to ask...

1.) Is that a Sport / Sport S?
2.) Any lift?
3.) Stock suspension?
4.) Any rubbing with the 35s?
5.) Those are just stock Rubi rims/wheels?

I've been going back and forth on what I want...33s or 35s. I don't plan a lift (at least it's not a must have for me)...and I would go off-road maybe a handful times a year. I know I'm set on the KO2s...but need to be smart on size.

In that picture it's lifted with the 2.5" SST ReadyLift and Rubicon front springs on a sport Max Tow. Sport or Sport S doesn't matter as long as it's a Max Tow or Rubicon it has the wider axles and you want hit the bottom control arm at full lock with 35's or at least with KO2 35's. I'm running my stock steel wheels with 1.75" wheel spacers, but the wheel spacers are not required, I just wanted a wider stance. Before this I ran it stock in the 315's for 2 days. You have to trim around the air dam on the very bottom or remove it to prevent rubbing on 35's.

Another vote for 285/75/17s, I just got a set of Toyo ATIIIs delivered, hope to get them mounted up this week.

No lift. Stock rim Sport S. 285/70/17 Nitto Trail got all 4 for $150 ? mount cost $98

New to the forum and pulled the trigger on 285/70/17 Ridge Grapplers today based on reading some of the other threads here (thanks everyone!). Sport, no max tow, no lift. No rubbing and no noticeable increase in noise so far though haven't been driving at higher speeds yet. Next project will be to take a dremel to the bumper closeout panels, gas mileage be damned.

what psi are you running now? Im experimenting and right im at 39 but looks still high. Ill try lowering them tomorrow

The shop filled it to 38, and yeah I'm with you in that it might be a little high. I'm going to drive around at that psi for a few days and maybe air down a little as well.

Sport S Max Tow. Tires are Firestone MT2 in 285/70r17. Load range E, I run about 33 PSI with good results. Love the tires and barely any change in performance from stock.

That reminds me I totally forgot to ask my shop if they recalibrated the speedometer [palm to face]. However, going from stock to 285/70/17 isn't much of a difference in speed per below. I imagine it's much more significant going from 31" to 35" or 37".

That's what I added to my Sport S. When I went for an oil change, I inquired about reprogramming the speedometer. The tech said, "per the Mopar handbook, no recalibration is needed if you aren't going about 33"." I feel like this isn't totally true but whatever, there isn't much difference. Comparing speedometer to GPS, it reads 2-4 MPH under the GPS over 70. Under 40, they pretty much match. I don't really think it's worth $150 to pay someone to reprogram or buy a tazer just for this.

Anybody reprogram for 33's? Seem worth it, like transmission shifting wise?

On my Sport S, I found that the stock tires were slightly off via GPS, when I put 285-70/17 Rubi take-offs my speedo was spott on. So it had me wondering if some were calibrated from the factory for those tires? I dont know, but thats what I found. When I went to 35's then yes...I certainly had to reprogram
