Who’s parts did you end up using to delete the FAD? What did you do about the opening in the axle tube?
I replaced my axle shafts with one piece RCVs. I used cavfab's delete plate. One fad is removed. The plate covers the opening. Used my Tazer to turn FAD off.

I believe you can also put your FAD solenoid back on when using the 32 spline RCVs, and it will continue to function even though it’s not actually engaging anything. Your Jeep doesn’t know the difference.

Never had any trouble with mine.

But If I was rock crawling, I'd certainly entertain the idea of removing the FAD system and putting manual hubs on the Gladiator.
The automatic hubs were so bad, the shops around here kept busy replacing them. They were a known issue.
A couple of my friends had them fail on their Fords and they are the ones that told me - don't fix the XXXX things, never put automatics back on, put Warn manual hubs on.
When you are in Oregon, your wife is stuck in Iowa with your F250 and it's icy and she can't get up the driveway because the auto hubs are trashed, you will put manual hubs on as fast as you can get home and get them ordered.
The dang things were a pain from day one, and about 30,000 miles - hardly used - they went to pieces.

If mine had been, or develop, a problem, off they’ll come. The ones on my F250 are manual engage or auto. What did you have?
Sorry for the sidetrack...

Correct, you just remove the coupler bushing. The RCV shafts is made so the fork of the FAD will clear it.

95 F250 with the heavy axles. Automatic only, no manual mode. To disengage you sometimes had to stop and back up as I recall but then I traded that truck off in 2011. It was the year 2000 that those things went south and really rotten timing. My wife was really PO'd as she had an appointment (can't recall, may have been doctor) and was unable to leave as there sat that truck blocking the slick driveway. THAT part I'll remember forever LOL
Like I said - those hubs had a bad reputation. Some Ford owners then were trying to convince me to get those hubs off and put on Warn manual hubs right after I got the truck. They said- trust us, those WILL fail, it's only a matter of when, not if.

Had the same happen on a ‘94 TTB Ranger with those junk auto vacuum driven hubs. Same advice, replace them with the Warn manual hubs.

The vacuum hubs are junk...and the default position when they failed was unlocked. All the vacuum hubs they did after atleast defaulted to locked position so you had 4wd. When you needed it was when you found out it had failed.

Are the RCVs shafts a plug and play in the wide axles, rubi and max tow? 32 spline?

Yes, RCV has several different ones to accommodate all the front axle varieties available

This JT slid on a trail and hit a rock just right...

Looks like the housing snapped at the FAD? That sucks. That damn opening into the housing is no doubt a significant vulnerability. I’m on the fence about further upgrades to my front axle but I can’t help but feel like I just should replace it altogether to get rid of the FAD. A delete and no amount of money spent on upgraded shafts would have prevented the carnage pictured.

May have been a freak accident. Plenty of folks have gone years and years of bumps without breaking a FAD. But I can certainly see slipping and hitting a rock, this is what a major portion of the (estimated) 15mi trail looks like. Up and down and around mountainsides
