Love y'all. Here's the new box again.
After a Misfits We Are 138....pages. The common theme here is PM @JeepCares
Let them do their work.

I'm totally sorry for all those that have been given the run around by dealers. I know mine wanted to charge me $160 if it was not the box. Let Jeepcares give you a customer rep. I literally had the same one the whole time. Like ONE GUY. Mine was Julian. I'll buy him a beer if I meet him IRL. I literally spent like 5 min on the phone. He was the best. Beat up the dealer and even helped me troll them. (he knew when my dealer got the parts and called me first....we waited to see if they would call me....they did) I think they like threatening dealers with involving FCA.
I gave him a baller review and even suggested they clone him.

Sounds like you got a good rep from @JeepCares as my rep. from @JeepCares did zero for me. Basically he told me what the dealer had already said to me and @JeepCares was uninterested in what i had to say and kept repeating that nothing could be done.

Like dealers it truly depends on who you get it surely is not equal across the board.

My rep was Anthony.

Anyone know the cut off date for 21's
2021 will have the new steering gear type.
There is no cutoff for the 2021 model year.

The cutoff otherwise for 2020 is August 14, 2020 for build date. Sometime in the middle of that date. So 1am on the 14th could have the old one, 11pm on the 14th will likely have the new one.

How do you check your build date?

Just fyi I was curious about torque specs. Pinch bolt is supposed to be 40ft lbs. I reached it from the top engine bay with 2 long extensions. It was about 20 lbs, so I torqued it to 40.

That may be true. But, I have a 2021 that was built with the newer steering box and have the wandering issue. About 1.5-2" of dead play in the steering.

Still waiting on what FCA is going to do.

After two long weeks, I finally got my JT back last night. We had a front blow in and it was very windy so I couldn't get a true feel for it. Very disappointed in the process, which originally started 9/2/20 when I first brought the JT in for the TSB. While I'm sure much of the delay was out of the dealer's control, the lack of communication was frustrating.

To top it off, I had asked them to also look at my fender liners which have been torn up from them flapping in the wind. I mentioned that TSB. They wouldn't replace them since they blamed it on my "oversized tires" (35s).

Oh well, much bigger issues going on on the world right now...

Yeah, but the question was about cut-off for having the new steering gear (which like any part - could have issues) vs. having the old one known to have issues.

Where is the part? How can one tell?
You apparently missed all of the pictures in the threads about the steering gear TSB and the wrong part number/wrong gear being ordered by the dealer.

The part number is right in the TSB - there's a chart and the dealers likely don't pay attention to the lines that say JT and then look STRAIGHT across to the correct part number. They must be tipping their head to the side, or their bifocals need adjusting.
And the part number is right on the steering gear - plain as day. And then - don't the techs even bother checking? I do - when the parts people said "here's the bearing kit for that engine" or whatever I was working on - I checked myself before even bothering to tear into things or opening packages. I guess these guys just take whatever is handed to them and they install it.

OK, dealership people - here's the steering gear showing where you find the bloody part number. If you can't read, ask the secretary up front what it says -

Now seriously, dealership folks - how hard can this REALLY be????
Here's your chart - and above is where you find the part number.

No, I saw those. On p28 and 57 I think. I'll post one up.

What I mean is where when I open the hood do I look? Was there a picture that hat shows where #9 is in this diagram?

You look in the wheel opening, the area of the frame where the thin plastic inner liner almost meet.
I've never gotten a good look from the engine bay.
The part numbers show when looking in the wheel well area so kneel down by the left front wheel, just ahead of the axle, above the frame rail. MAY need to pull the plastic liner back a bit but you can usually see the label without doing so.

My pics were taken from the wheel well, not the engine bay.

It does show on the paperwork and the wrong part number is on the part too!
They just missed the JT has a different part number.
Hey Tele...did the same thing on my Mojave but once I pointed out the mistake they remedied it immediately (next day) and It's been good ever since...
