So FINALLY after getting diagnosed and supposedly ordered AUGUST 30, mine got repaired this week. Picked up last night, haven't had much chance to really drive it yet, but seemed a little firmer than before.

Had mine done yesterday. They must have gave it to a new tech because I could tell they ham fisted the work to some degree. Looked it over in the dealership pickup bay and found the fluid overfilled quite a bit. Had some hose on the intake left disconnect and I do not know what that had to do with the steering gear install? Gear part number checked out but the label was all smashed and half torn. I do know they did the programming because my OBDII dongle was removed and in the center cup holders.

I will say upfront my steering wander was no where near as bad as some here reported but it still was noticeable. After the TSB it is a lot better and more in line with the better feel I had with my JK's in the past.

Overall I am glad I got it done just for the piece of mind.

I've got to wait for the winds here to settle down, it's been crazy windy here every day for a week now, 55 mph yesterday, 25 here today, so it's hard to tell for SURE, but I think I need to go back to the dealer and ask them to check things out.
It's weird - it's like it wants to "wander" one direction, so you compensate by holding the wheel against it in the other direction, then suddenly it decides it wants to wander the other way, so you start to compensate by holding the wheel against that tendency the other direction. It's almost as if it's wanting to follow a wandering line on the roads. It "drifts" and you have to hold the wheel first to the right to keep it from drifting left, then it changes its mind and wants to drift right, and you work against that. You would appear to be drunk, almost against the center line for a few seconds, then almost against the right shoulder line for a few seconds, then back the other way again. It's almost las if caster just suddenly disappeared.
I'd say it's actually as bad as it ever was, but in a different way.
It's not loose - there's not play in the wheel, it's not a pull in a specific direction, it's like it can't decide.

So I guess when I go in to have the passive entry code added to the VIN, I'll ask them to take it for a drive!
Funny thing, it seemed better for a while. This just started in the last couple of weeks, maybe not that long ago.

Just got my JTR done. I have had the fox steering stabilizer. My steering was never really that bad but it did have a slight dead spot at center.
After getting it back and driving 60 miles or so not much difference. Slightly more resistant to wander but not like driving a go kart or anything.

That may be true. But, I have a 2021 that was built with the newer steering box and have the wandering issue. About 1.5-2" of dead play in the steering.

Still waiting on what FCA is going to do.

Me too! 2021 Gladiator and this this is all over the road and only seems to be getting worse. Added the synergy brace, which helped for a bit but it's still really bad. I"m not new to jeeps at all and there is definitely something wrong with it. Dealer did an alignment and now ordered a steering gear. If it gets any worse i'll have to park it until it gets fixed.

Welp finally after 2 months 3 weeks and 6 days i got my truck back from the dealer ???
Reason as to why it took so long is cause of covid and delays and yes i could've gotten my truck back but hey i got me a dodge challenger hellcat as a loaner so i was out there (........driving it like it should be driven...??)did some small burnouts here and there since it was a loaner and after some burnouts and donuts and a new set of tires my my son finally got his truck back (its technically his but he pays for all the mods and the truck so its hus)
But yeah man its been pretty fun for me with this dumb recall thing but hey im glad to have the truck back :D

Ford Bronco can't get here soon enough.
I didn’t know the new Bronco was also a pickup truck? What is its towing capacity? Do you honestly think Ford will knock it out of the park and not have any issues with it? Lol.

Stopped by my dealer today to ask about the steering. They did a quick test drive and said "I'll be blunt with you, I felt the wander, but it's because of your lift and tires (Mopar 2" and 37s). I'll do the TSB if you want, but it won't fix your issue. I inquired on how the Mopar suspension lift could cause steering wander and he said "well, it's the tires, you have to lift it to add the tires. The sidewall flex in the tires causes the wander."

"The guy that leaked the TSB has already been charged and fired, but I'll order it for you and have the parts in about two months (a few people ahead of me in line). "

I'd like to know more on this.

And if it was such a problem couldn't FCA just recall a TSB and anyone who didn't get in on time is SOL? I have been told it is now a formal recall, but I still don't get why. If the cost was so high that they fired the guy, they could have had legal come up with a way to avoid it after the initial rush.

"The guy that leaked the TSB has already been charged and fired....." What bunch of crap... so hard to believe the stores that are coming out of dealers. FCA really does have a huge communication / PR / process issue with dealers and how they handle their channel and general public.
Have a look at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA website. The TSB is listed there along with all the recalls that relate to a vehicle. As of today there is no recall for the steering gear box. Have a look.. Cheers!
