Got my Seat Shield covers! These are great for just throwing onthe seat after a MTB ride, hiking trip, etc... They are waterproof and washable too. I store them under the rear seat when not in use. Literally takes a second to install or take off.

Here's the tools I've been using - the only thing not showing through is the settings menu option but I just enabled that this morning so maybe it takes a while to show? AlfaOBD says I made the change and the truck seems to agree...........

Settings are in the BCM for everything -

20210110_112001.jpg

Here's where you tell the BCM that the CMS choice is present - defaults to no from factory if your truck doesn't have it - I selected yes, told it to start the procedure to change, and it said procedure completed.

I turned the garage lights off (it's a cloudy, dreary, day - 23 degrees) so it was dark inside. Headlight switch set to auto mode (my wife and I always run all of our vehicles in auto mode unless conditions dictate a need to have them on in the day - funeral, etc.)
I made sure the stalk was in the high beam setting - started it and it told me Automatic High Beams Enabled"
Just not in the settings in the big screen - hopefully in a few hours?

It's an early November, 2019 build 2020 model year - ACC, forward collision, all that present in the truck.

There were a couple reasons for asking, when I built mine it said it would come with the advanced safety option on Jeep’s website but the build sheet and sticker do not show the option. We ordered a new 2021 80th in October and the option was still listed as part of the advanced safety group on the Jeep site to build but when it arrived it is not enabled.

I am working with Jeep to get it enabled since it was listed as part of the package and not received although it was ordered with the package and paid for.

Have you confirmed it is working as designed on the road?

Thanks

I have not - no reason to take it out much these days - winter, cold, no place to go! I'd have to drive a ways to find other traffic on most evenings or nights. I may for kicks take it out tonight and see.
If you ordered a 2021, I also thought that was part of the advanced safety group option - at least by reading what OTHERS have posted.

You may have to get the latest software update for the auto high beams. There was issues in the early version with the sensitivity, and thus the reason it was turned off. I have not seen the issue first hand so I am not sure how bad it is.

It wasn't even an option when I bought the truck......... October configured, November built (2019)
Since it wasn't listed as an option until a month or two later (December, 2019??) I can see why it wouldn't be in the radio menu as a check box.
As far as the truck's BCM is concerned, it's enabled as it shows up on the dash/cluster when you start.

I'll check and see if my dealer can tell me if I have the latest BCM........ it has the latest PCM, EHPS and ABS for sure as I've had the PCM flash done as my VIN was listed as a "recall" thing, EHPS as the steering gear was replaced (TSB) and ABS flashed because of the brake controller issue.

Grand Cherokees have had this for years, even Compass has had the option since at least 2017 or 2018. (My son has a Compass and likes this feature)
Odd they'd have a problem since many other Jeep vehicles have had the option, working fine, for years.

If you had the recall you probably have the latest software. The auto headlights has been an n option for a long time on many FCA vehicles. I have had it on my 2015 and 2019 Ram. From what I have been told there were issues originally with the sensor sensitivity and the consistency of the feature operation. My suspicion is the windshield threw them a curve ball. This is why the feature was not originally offered, as it did not get worked out on time.

The thing they listed as a "recall" wasn't technically - they called it that on the invoice. I went for an oil change, they said my VIN was listed for a PCM flash - I said do it (seeing the issues others were having, what the heck)
Supposedly the PCM thing was to deal with EGR issues, that sort of thing.

Funny a FLAT glass would be an issue when Grand Cherokee, Ram, Compass, etc. all have differing compound curve to their front glass.
But - it makes sense that suddenly a 2020 model year had something added instead of waiting to include it with the 2021 model year.

Also odd that it shows up as ready/enabled on the cluster when I start it, it's simply not an option in the radio screen.
If I start it in my dark garage, headlights set to auto, dimmer set to high beam, it comes up with auto high beam enabled. If I flip the lever again to go to low beam, it says auto high beam disabled - EXACTLY like the later owner manual shows it would do.
So the BCM is aware, it's showing me ready, or disabled, on the cluster. Only the radio doesn't show a place to check a box for it.
But then that makes sense in another way, too - include it - sort of - but don't let it be enabled in the radio.

Now, how to convince the dealer to update my system........... show them the message on the cluster and then show them it's not showing up in the radio?

You may be able to update the radio, yourself, not sure if they still do it, but you used to be able to download the radio updates onto USB and update it yourself

Worth a little digging. We had a 2015 GC that there was something missing or wrong with the radio and the dealer said it was a download and upgrade via USB and asked if we wanted to or wanted them to. It was a service thing so we had them do it. (no charge but it took them over an hour)

Finally got around to installing the second rear tow hook...

Once I had the bumper removed, it looked to me that it (the bumper) was designed to snap together, but not simply snap apart!
So I used a Roto-Zip and a file to open up the hole. I think it looks OK.
Anybody want the stock trim piece with the factory hole already in it?

Kevin

If I find an inexpensive hook take-off I'd put the second hook on mine...........
You have an extra trim piece??
