Lift installed, before and afters are here! I took my time installing the lift. For those wanting to diy make sure you have a good 1/2” drive torque wrench capable of over 200 lbs/ft and a coil spring compressor for the rear springs. I don’t think it can be done without a spring compressor.
Enough talk, here’s what we were all waiting for!

love this look too, exactly what I was shooting for. I did the Mopar 2” kept the stock steel wheels and started with 255/80/17 km2. I now wish I had a larger tire after adding the Rubicon fenders. Mopar LED headlights should be here around February 15th.

Awesome!

Looks great!

I have a Kenda 35/10.5-17 as a spare. Currently running 315/70-17 Cooper SST’s.

I really like the Kenda’s and plan on running them once these Coopers wear out.

You’re JT looks awesome!

It’s amazing how “long” the gladiators look without a lift. I really like the tucked look of your tires.

On your stock wheels the balance weights look really off being on the outer lip of the rim... could they not put the weights on the inside?

Next up is inner fenders front and rear, Rubicon front fender flares, mopar LED headlights, and 4.56 gears.
I got the road armor stainless inner fenders (520LFR0Z) from sportcompactwarehouse.com at a cost of $423.26 which was significantly lower than anywhere else. I was worried that it was a scam site, but they arrived two days after I placed the order! Faster than even summit racing. Went with Arctec front inner fenders (ARTJL5107) from northridge4x4 and front Rubicon flares from eBay. Front fender parts should arrive tomorrow and I plan on painting the tops of the flares both front and rear white to match my truck. Rustoleum plastic paint en route from summit racing.
Local dealer quoted me $2300 to do ring and pinion front and rear, reflash for LED headlights, and recalibrate speed for tires/gears. That’s 7 hours labor for each gear set (14hrs total) and an hour for each reflash.
Obviously that is ridiculous and indicates a labor rate of $147/hr. If I can’t find a shop that can do both sets of gears for under a thousand dollars I’ll take a week off of work and do the gear change myself.
I got the Tazer Mini from @zauto and was waiting to plug it in until I had the dealer update my truck for headlights and tires so the Tazer would go back to that for it’s “return to stock config” function. If the dealer is going to charge more than the Tazer cost for two flashes I’m not going to have them do either one.
Look for new fender pics to be uploaded this week!
First off, great progress with the rig it looks awesome.

Second to anyone reading you can remove the rear springs without a compressor. I did it in my garage with a floor jack and stands. Just need to remove the brake line brackets to get enough droop.

OP, not trying to burst your bubble but while the rubicon fenders will bolt right up I don't believe the DRLs will work with your sport. From everything I have read there is an additional harness for the LED DRL that come on Rubis, Overlands, and Sport S w/ the max tow package. Unfortunately that means that our manual transmission trucks dont have that harness. Is that different for 2021?

They could, and they did on one of them. I had them re-do the one that had weights only on the inside so they were both inside and out. I wanted the wheels to be dynamically balanced rather than static balanced to eliminate the possibility of wobble. I don’t plan on entering my JT in any car shows but I do plan on using it off road a lot which is why I went with steelies. The steelies accept weights that are hammered on (instead of adhesive attached) so they won’t fall off. I did hit the outside of the wheels with flat black spray paint and got the weights while I was at it though :)

You’re absolutely right, the stock springs come right out. Getting the 2” lift springs IN was where I needed the spring compressor. Or were you able to get the 2” lift springs in by just removing the brake line brackets? I didn’t do that and using the spring compressor was the sketchiest part of this!

The Mopar LED headlight kit comes with wiring to run to the BCM so the halos work (with a reflash from the dealer or a Tazer mini). It’s just two wires and could easily be made at home so I’ll get it out and put some pictures up with measurements. I’m unsure if the fender DRLs will work or not, but if they do I plan on turning them off with the Tazer anyway. DRLs aren’t really my thing - I do think the halos look cool and will run them but will make sure they’re off too when it’s time to take the fam out to look at Christmas lights.

Yep I was able to muscle the new spring in by dropping the axle a little more (given the extra slack in the brake lines)

Sounds like you're aware of the drls and have a plan!

Post up what's needed for any extra wiring your doing. I have also converted to led headlights and fogs (oculus) but am unsure what I want to do with the fender lights.

I plan on adding Rubicon fender flares to my sport as well. Did you replace the rear fender flare too? Is/was there a difference b/w the Sport S and the Rubi rear flare? Thanks!

From what I understand the rear flares are the same on both so it isn’t necessary.

I still haven’t put the rubi flares on the front because of issues with painting the plastic to match body color. I did finally get my gears installed. The dealer wanted $2300 so I took a couple days off work in conjunction with a long weekend and did it myself.

Nice looking ride. Liking the steelies and the narrow tires. Very military looking.

Thanks brother!

I finally just put the gears in. Did it myself since the dealer wanted $2300 and the local off road shop wanted $1800. I was a professional tech for Harley Davidson while going to college so I’m not a total amateur but it took me a few days and a second collapsible spacer/pinion nut to get the front in with the right backlash and pattern. The rear took a half a day to do after that. Out doing the top gear relearn right now haha. Here are some pics:

So now I’m pushing 4.56:1 gears and the difference is incredible! So much better than it was, and even better than bone stock too! Haven’t been on the interstate yet since I’m still breaking the gears in but I’ve been in sixth and can tell it will finally be useable. I’ve done a couple other mods like debadging it and sticking the old school ‘Jeep’ Truck badge on, removing the Trail Rated badge and replaced with an old FJ40 4 Wheel Drive badge, and got some Bartact seat covers. I’ll collect some pics and post them up, just been super busy!

Love the steelies! I have been waiting for mine to arrive for over a week... Maybe you can answer this question. The center cap from the allow won't fit in the steelies? So I would have tok order the hub cap?... Love. The build!
