I have the same reaction when trying to work out offset vs backspacing. They are the same, only opposite and different.....somehow.....kinda....and math, and stuff......

Here are my stats, I just wished I could buy an oem fender that was about another 1” wider.

So does every one else on the roadway what with the rain spray and debris slinging. I love the big tire look although without extended fenders, to me it conveys a "I don't give a crap about you and the laws" attitude. No offense, just my attitude.

So twisted on the negative numbers. I can handle backspacing, yet the -18 throws me a curve ball. Put some trust in the retailer, Discount Tire Direct, and the wheel manufacturer, Black Rhino. Stuck with the stock 18", up to a 9" wide. No lift, as I often tow. Went with a 285-65-18 KO2, so I really wonder how much they'll poke out and rub. I have 'em, so as soon as the weather breaks, wheel see. Truck Wheels, Truck Sport Custom Wheels, Truck Custom Wheels (blackrhinowheels.com)

Seems like the TJ and JK had wide-but-stock-looking fenders available by this time (3 model years into JL). I would love a flare that mimics the Rubicon unit but is 2" wider, ideally with a lip to seasonally run a standard mud flap. I like my tires covered.

That should end up roughly the same as mine in the pics from the prior pages

Rubicon has wider fenders, not 2" wider but wider and stock, with taller fronts. Or you can get Max Tow if you like the lower front look, they are also a little wider.

Same, on 37” KO2 with Mopar 2”
@camodog - how is performance going uphill, on the highway, etc w/ the 37" KO2s? Did you regear?

My lift is installed, next big decision is 35s or 37s (now that I have the wheel size figured out).

I feel like offset and metric tire sizes are commensurate; i.e. everyone stop using them. We measure by inches in America not millimeters.

People get too hung up on on offset. Backspacing is what you want to be concerned about. The lower the backspacing number, the farther they stick out. As you can see in the chart, a -12 offset has different backspacing on a 8" wheel versus a 10", therefore if you're concerned with only backspacing, you are not going to get what you want. In my experience, on a lifted Jeep, you want about 4.5" of backspacing for clearance. It will work a little one way or the other, but 4 5" to maybe 4.75" is the sweet spot.

and for those of us trying to keep from having to hit the car wash after every puddle, or pound the heck out of the paint with gravel, or even have the window down without throwing every puddle into the cab, then 5.5-5.75" is the sweet spot ;)

not everyone is building a crawler

stay positive my friends....positive offset that is

on a 9" wide wheel go for plus 12/18 offset, -12 was a short lived experiment for me

and the factory overland side steps are awesome fyi

i did the -12, 35x12.50 route on 17x9's...sidewall likely 2.5" out on sport-s, and in a few months of winter i'd had enough, the skateboard look also wore off quick too, look okay on front end but something doesn't look right on the back end when they poke that far, like a gangly baby giraffe that is trying to figure out how to walk, looks awkward, awkward gaps/air space etc....tuck things in people, it's the right thing to do

I just installed the Warn Starcutter wheels in black on my black Sport S max tow. I put on Bridgestone A/t Evo 3 tires in p285/70-17 and have about 2" of "poke" all around that I think looks great. The tires are just as quiet on the road as my OE tires and Warn advertises these wheels as being specifically for newer Jeeps. The wheels only come in black or grey colors so maybe not what you're looking for but the backspace and offset are right on.

Forgot to mention, Warn has two other styles of wheel. I'd have gone with the "moonsalt" if they didn't have the fake rim lock look. T
