It honestly doesn’t look like that deep of mud/water. When it enters it displaces a large amount of initial water creating a wave at the front of the vehicle. If you look at the side of the photo the water is roughly at the base of the door and well below the rated water crossing level.

For the life of me, I cannot conceive of any reason that someone would buy a $50K car/truck/jeep and then do that to it. It just defies common sense.
Guess it makes about as much sense as paying $50K for a capable off road vehicle and using it to get groceries.

Believe it or not, it wasn't nearly as bad as all that. Water was only about 2ft at the deepest, but the bow wave displaced did come over the hood for about 5 secs. Pic was grabbed from a video, I just picked the gnarliest looking frame to screen grab. A group of 5 Gladiators and 3-4 JLs/JKs ran it before we did, including a stock Sahara. We rode about 15 more miles of trail after that, then another 50 miles or so back home. Started up and ran fine for the next morning's trip to the car wash too, so there don't seem to have been any ill effects.

Have you ever flooded or otherwise ruined/thrashed a vehicle off-road? My guess is that people that react negatively to the pic (and I'm one of them) are cringing at some kind of PTSD - whether personal or witnessed.

I plan to run have some fun in the dirt and rocks, but I won't be doing any water crossing or mudpit splashing at more than single-digit speed for sure. At least not stock.

Do you feel the same about crawling?
