How come Motul X-cess 5W40 isn't on the list? I thought that was the one that had MS-12991 coverage shown on their website?

You must have overlooked it. It was one of the first to make the list!

They have a few different product lines. X-clean is listed, but X-cess it not Additionally, they have Gen 2 lines for X-clean and X-cess, but it looks like the Gen 2 X-clean isn't MS-12991 approved.

The last I looked, Motul had two MS-12991 approvals:

I used Quaker full synthetic on all 5 of my vehicles. Changes every 8k miles, top off at 4k. Caution not to overfill and move on with life.

Yep, that's hands-down the cheapest MS-12991 approved 5W-40 oil I've seen yet. Funny thing is, Quaker State is owned by Shell.

I would love to see a Quaker State Used Oil Analysis. If It provided good engine protection for my needs, then I would consider running it.

When I contacted Shell, they seemed confident that Rotella would not make an oil that was MS-12991 approved. I'm sure the other Shell products played a role in that decision.

Thank you for posting this. It's showing in stock at my local Walmart and at $3.80 a quart it destroys the "luxury" oils that do the exact same job.
