I’ve had my JT for almost three months now and have already installed over $8k in parts. I’m thinking about adding coverage for the parts on my insurance policy. It doesn’t take a lot to total out a vehicle and I’d hate to loose out on my modifications.

Has anyone lose done this?

I have not but will be as soon as I get my Gladiator. Most insurance companies won't cover said vechicle if there have been mods to it. As soon as I start modding it. Travelers insurance seemed to be the best option. Nationwide is definitely not on your side. Costco insurance told me max lift is three inches total. Progressive is second choice as I'm with them currently. If you do get in an accident and it has been modded. Chances are they won't cover you. Good luck.

Im no insurance expert but Id like to believe they would have to prove the modification was the cause of the accident in order to not cover you. But i suppose that would boil down to your individual policy and your state's laws. i know for a fact that my progressive policy does not say anywhere that it does not provide me coverages in the event i modify my vehicle. It does say that that modification would only be covered to a certain extent, and i would need to prove the original cost of the modification. I was told years ago that with lift kits, its better to have a shop install it just in case you get in an accident. When providing documentation to the insurance company you can say that it was professionally installed and was not the cause of the incident.

Again Im no expert, and companies are usually greedy piglets looking to take advantage of their customers. So there is always the possibility im dead wrong!
