Help me not buy a Ranger Tremor

Ultimately the Gladiator has one thing NONE of the other trucks can match - the coolness factor. I have had more comments about the Gladiator in a little over a year than I had with all my other cars combined.

Simply put... IT IS FUN!

Yeah agreed the gladiator is special, you can get it with a 6MT, and its a convertible so +1 for getting bees in the cabin while driving ha.

Although the tremor is a lot faster, drives better on the road, and weighs a lot less.

Its really simple. The Gladiator is a Jeep with some truck capabilities. The Tremor is a truck with some Jeep capabilities. I get a smile every time I hop in the Gladiator because I like Jeeps first trucks second.

The JTR the OP was looking at in comparison has significantly less payload capacity and less towing capacity. 1430 vs 1236 (my JTR's payload) is almost 20%, that's significant. With a tongue weight of 12%, that's almost 1500 lbs of towing payload!

I don't dispute the Gladiator's appeal, but it is hardly the end-all be-all of the segement.

Payload and towing capacity are about the same for the Gladiator and Ranger. Max tow Gladiator payload is 1550 lbs, ranger tremor payload is 1430. Max tow Gladiator towing capacity is 7650 lbs, Tremor towing capacity is 7500. Actually, the gladiator has a little more capability in both of those "truck stuff" categories. It's close enough that unless you're going to be at the edge of capacity, that shouldn't be the deciding factor, though.

The Ranger will likely handle better, based on the IFS, but otherwise, the gladiator is very competitive in the mid-size truck class. And it just looks bad-a**

Look I'm on your side. I know it's not the be all end all. I'm just presenting the payload and towing capacities of both vehicles, which are similar. You'll pick what you want to drive. If rangers were available with a manual transmission still, they'd have been on my list too.

I understand that. I'm just presenting a different trim, as the Rubicon trim has the lowest towing capacity of all the automatic gladiators, and makes no sense if you don't want to off road.

Frankly, this thread really did help me confirm my choice and it's going to be hard to talk me out of a Gladiator. Usually when you post on board like this you'll find one or two people were like, "Yeah I owned the car this forum features and it SUCKS and I got X instead" and I didn't really get much of any of that. What I did get were people who had experience with both who still said they wanted the Gladiator or were happier with it even after acknowledging some strong selling points for the Ranger.

I'm going to apologize for my earlier statement and so not to rehash, I'll state that I'm not a Jeep guy.. I am 100% not a Ford/Chevy guy!!!!!! Ive really have 10 or so Nissan trucks thru the years..
Personally I have always had a good looking ride, lowered / lifted, always custom and modded at home.
Styling the JT rules the small truck market. It has been years since a good looking small truck has been produced. At 1 point both Ford and Chevy pulled out of the market, while Nissan and Toyota maintained production.
I'm all about someone making something new and cool, the JT is it. Jeep with a bed.. I never looked at a jeep for purchase, if it didnt have a bed and be able to lift (so nice being able to see over or around traffic) I would still be in a 2007 Titan (best damn truck I ever owned).
I bought a diesel (that was the fall off the fence moment for me), in my mind its going to be just a reliable as my T and a little more fun in a mountains roads/trails!
I cancel my Telsa order and Hummer order. Cant really afford the hummer. a lot more in life for 100k, like JT plus 50k in the bank

A lot of people just gave their honest opinions OP, and I think that’s basically what you asked for, so I don’t understand why you would make fun of or disrespect anyone who replied. All took their time, and I know mine is valuable to me anyway, to give you an opinion. Then you can take it from there. You talk about your age having bearing, but to me, you’re still a kid, so I offered up an opinion for what it’s worth. I for one have no chip on my shoulder about any manufacturer. In my family at present are Hondas, Toyotas, Fords, Chevrolets, Dodges, Subarus, and Jeeps. Of those, from only personal experience, recent Fords (2017 up) have been the least reliable. Just thought that might have some value to you. There are several Ford products I like, including the Raptor, and the GT500 and GT350 Mustangs. We would have bought a Raptor as a company truck, but the ADM really pissed me off at every Ford dealership I dealt with, some of which we’d bought from before. Didn’t matter. I’m 57, and halfway think I need one more fire-breathing dragon of an ICE car before electricity takes over. The GT500 might be on that list, if Ford dealerships didn’t always try to rape you with ADM. I’ve never paid MSRP for a vehicle, much less ADM, so I’ll never own a GT500. There is at least one dealership I know, and probably more, that will order me a Hellcat wide body for 10% under MSRP, so if I do it, that’s the direction I’ll go. My Dad was a die-hard Ford man, but the Ford of recent years just isn’t what it used to be, imo. Again, your mileage may vary. Buy what YOU want, but if you want people to take time to give you their opinion, don’t make statements like the above that shit on everyone who responded. Some of us were just trying to be helpful.

Yea, Nissan finally realized they blew the Titan by not using the Warrior lines. Seems like they addressed it using the new Frontier in the pic. I really see the Warrior lines in it.

I personally feel like Jeep should have made all the Gladiators look like a Rubicon and have LEDs standard. The Rubicon adds should be the front locker, dis-connectable sway bar, improved shocks, wheels, steel bumpers, LEDs, and interior bits. All the rear seats should have a fold down arm rest regardless of cloth or leather. Just my .02.
