I prefer scotch, but after stopping at a few distilleries on the bourbon trail I'm working on tasting more bourbons.

Scotch - Dalmore, Jura, Talisker, Laphroaig

My wife and I are in Kentucky now. We are doing some tours and too m much shopping. I even bought a barrel (empty ... ?). I'll take pictures when we get home and there is room to spread it out.

There are plenty of small craft distilleries in Kentucky as well. They make some great hooch. They even have their own trail. You should try a few of them, if you have time.

MacCallan, Lagavulin, Ardbeg, Auchentoshen, The Glenrothes, and Wilson&Morgan are my mainstay whiskies from Scotland. BTW Wilson&Morgan is 64%. Needs a tech of watr.

Well, I like whiskey, but it's not really a hobby.
Usually Jack Daniel's or Chivas.
I can't stand blended whiskies.
I did experience a very good scotch while on a cruise. It was expensive ($150+ a glass, I wasn't buying!) and, oh, my! But I don't remember the name...
Too much good scotch that night!

There is common misconception about blending whiskies - people are led to believe that single malt is not blended. Wrong. Single malt means liquids that are produced at one distillery, and may be blended with liquid produced within that distillery.
To be a pure single, it must be produced and labelled single cask which would be single distillery.

As @Gladman pointed out, most whiskies are blended.
I was referring to stuff known as Canadian whiskey.

Guess you could say I like bourbon:

I do tastings on my back porch frequently with my local Jeep club members. I try to make it a different theme each time. This was our Texas whiskey/bourbon week.

Personally, I prefer the wheaters. Old Fitzgerald, Larceny, Weller. But two of my recent favorites are Rock Hill Farms and Blanton's Gold.

I also have an instagram page where I feature the bourbons I taste and try.

I liked the Shiner Balcones beer a lot more than I liked the whiskey. The whiskey just didn't hit the right flavor profile for me. And this is coming from someone who LOVES everything Shiner. I have had just about every beer they've ever made and have about 60 full bottles of different flavors.

Went to a concert last night where they were giving away 12packs of Heineken 0.0. Even on a Marine Corps base there were pallets of them left as we exited!lol

Well, that didn't last long.

Even the dedicated Scotch drinkers in the group were impressed. This bottle fell before the 12-year was even a quarter down. If you can find this locally, I highly recommend. Beautiful straight, but a perfect mixer too, exceptionally smooth and balanced. Most of my portion was dedicated to the classic old fashioned, using Lady Grey (Earl Grey/bergamot) bitters.

I went to Cincinnati to see a friend's band and, of course, we had to dross the river and visit The Party Source.
The largest liquor store this side of the Mississippi. After the gig was over, we sampled a few......

Knob Creek is the best of those bottles... to me.
