In the 70's where I was at, SM was it. One day drink a dozen bottles, no effect. The next day drink three, and under the table. A troubled time in St. Angeles City, I think they were called Moros (?). Don't go downtown alone, stay close to base.
Hahaha! I get a hangover now with just three bottles.

To Overlord and DankJeep, thank you for your service! My father was in Vietnam but as a civilian personnel. My parents were professors at Angeles University. I too rode on Jeepneys as a kid. I was six with another six year old riding to visit friends. Not safe! What I remember most is how delicious the food was in Angeles City and how amazing the holiday seasons were!
Yup, no seat belts, no lanes!

Spent a lot of time in the PI during my 30 years in the Corps. Everywhere from Mindanao [not a good place where we were operating], Palawan, Subic, Clark, Manilla, etc. Simply wonderful people.

Got invited to a Retired US Air Force Colonel's house and he lived like a friggin King. That said, he's not allowed to own property or a business, everything had his wife as the main owner. He and wife got really screwed because everyone would triple or more the price of their services/goods because he was a "rich American".

When an American finds a native Filipina or Filipino he or she usually ends up being responsible for the whole extended family. So while he's living like a king he's also spending the same amount of money being the benefactor to the family he married into.

The lucky ones fall in love with someone who has a small or estranged family :whew:

I am actually considering retiring there. True with extended family and friends. All of a sudden you have a bunch of tito and tita. Hahaha!
