I just installed an S&B CAL. Fairly simple install. Now have the Check Engine Light going off.

Anyone know how to fix that issue?

It's likely the sensor that goes into the tubing. It has to be put back in at the exact same orientation, or it's going to throw errors from what I've heard. Before you remove it, it's a good idea to make a mark with a sharpie on the top of it, so that you can put it back in exactly the same way.

This is exactly what the problem is. It is very demanding that the orientation of the sensor be correct.

Not sure what the claimed HP/torque increases are, but my guess is they're so small you won't notice them. Better purpose for CAI might be to hear the motor better.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I’ve wrenched quite a bit on cars when I used to auto cross years ago when I was a young man.

when I first started out, I bolted a bunch of this crap on trying to increase my class rating….I actually lost HP.

the only way I was able to make these things (I.e CAI, exhausts, headers, plenum spacers, cat deletes, etc.) actually make power was to dyno tune them one at a time. And I made probably 5-10whp with everything combined.

the only way I was able to actually achieve anything was to pull the engine and install a stroker kit.

Granted this was decades ago on high compression import engines and I’m not sure the experience translates. But ever since then I’ve greatly tempered my expectations of bolt on engine mods without a subsequent dyno tune.

In my opinion, and I know this is a little off topic, is if your looking for butt dyno results you can feel you are much better off focusing on gearing, transmission and going FI than you are sinking money into bolt on products for a NA engine. I don’t care what the manufacturer says. No CAI is going to net you 20hp, these claims are not regulated and no one can be held responsible when they are proven to be a flat out lie.

Gotta chime in in this. Designing air intakes and exhausts is my job.

Air intakes do change the sound. They also give HP back from free flow of the filter. Panel filters are cheap and the worse for flow. The HP you get back is not top line. Most of the gains are in the mid range RPMs. Fortunately, the JT is not torque limited. The new Silverado/Sierra gains zero HP because the throttle body opens just enough to make the torque needed for the rpm and load. They do this for mileage.
