I like the performance with 33's and 4.10's. Once you air down the difference between a tire and the next size up becomes smaller. It's not worth the tradeoff to gain .5-.75 under the diff to me.

You are correct, I throw my 37's on when I go on the trails (4.5" suspension lift) and put the 34's on when I pull the trailer. Wider wheels with an offset are needed to go to a bigger tire.
Who wants to show up on any trail with anything less than 35's?, even worse, 35's or bigger with no suspension lift or room for the tires?

That would be me. Ive done plenty of the red/difficult trails in Colorado and the only one I’ve ever turned back from wasn’t because I needed that extra 0.5”of extra ground clearance.

To OP, the only reason to upgrade is you actually need the increase or you’ve got nothing better to spend your money on.

To me, I’d rather throw that money to gas for a trip and save money from better mileage while I’m out.

For me, it was about removing the rake and changing the stance of the truck. That was the practical side. The 35's and 2 in spacers - well they just look good. Here she is riding the "Tale of the Dragon" in East Tennessee. I love all the mods, but that Bestop is really a good one to think about. Lots of fun.
Jeep Gladiator I know I’m going to catch grief for this question. Why go larger wheels and tires Rich and Jack TN trip July 2021 The Dragon 2

For me the larger tires were to maintain the appearance of the jeep with a small lift (2in spacers) and maintain tow ability of the JTMT. Im on 285/75/17 at the moment. Now, due to another thread on here, im looking at 255/85/17 aka "pizza cutters"

So you can traverse that one obstacle you couldn't otherwise clear. For when you need that extra inch to clear your diff, meatier tires to grab that ledge, or when that curb at the Walmart is in your damn way.

Yes, some people just like the looks. And every time they park and walk away, they take a look back and smile. Good for them! I say go for it. Whatever makes you happy.

I had a Comanche I put pizza cutters on, I didn't need flotation just a big and aggressive tread. I really liked them. They were quite a bit taller than stock and sidewall flex was really noticable but not a problem. On the road in snow they actually worked very well, I think the narrow tire dug in and got a bite instead of floating on top, I don't know, but I liked them. I have stock tires on my Mojave right now because I ain't gonna replace them until they need replacement. Tight wad cheap scape kinda thing.

I personally think Jeeps look the best with larger tires. The 4 doors and Gladiator look the best with 37s or larger. The 2 door wranglers look the best with 35s or larger. Just my opinion.

I don't offroad nearly as much as as I want to. Maybe once every year or two. Still I ordered a set of 37s for my gladiator. Either way, do whatever you want too. Your money.

I feel like I’m the only person here that has not gone to larger wheels and tires. Now I get those of you doing hardcore anything off road. Larger tires along with a lift give you more traction, better break over, and more ground clearance. However if you are not doing the Rubicon all the time what is the point? Adding lifts, tires, wheels , and gears costs thousands and hurts what little fuel economy we have. So I guess I want someone to tell me why this is a must have mod.
I think it is also for looks. I'm still stock sized but I was pricing tires last night. Lift/tires make these trucks just look so good. Do what you want.

Because it's my personal preference of what I want to drive. Other questions... Why did you buy a jt ? With poor mpg. Looks like a brick. Wind noise. It's a Jeep thing and you may not ever understand.
