You can tell Gupton is all about online orders. They only have three salespeople listed on their website. So they aren’t selling too much off their lot.

In addition, dealers get financially awarded for meeting a certain volume quota. You can also bet that these dealers that push volume get priority in factory orders.
I've noticed this as well, people that order from Gupton have been averaging around a month while others that go with local dealers seem to have orders sit for multiple months.

Daniel has basically created the straight from Jeep sales method that auto companies should have been doing for years now. I'm glad there are dealers around me for service and warranty work, but after the warranty is out I never generally let the dealer near my vehicle again.

I do think his orders get a higher level of priority than others as well as Jeep wants to continue rewarding the volume he brings them.

Daniel has basically created the straight from Jeep sales method that auto companies should have been doing for years now. I'm glad there are dealers around me for service and warranty work, but after the warranty is out I never generally let the dealer near my vehicle again.

I do think his orders get a higher level of priority than others as well as Jeep wants to continue rewarding the volume he brings them.
Agreed, the dealers in our area seem to gouge people pretty bad and even before Covid/chip shortage they were always tacking on extra fees whenever they could and refusing to negotiate or budge.

2 of the local dealers outright said no to a factory order when I asked and tried to steer me into marked up lot inventory that wasn't even close to what I wanted. Places like Gupton are like a breath of fresh air in comparision.

I was dead set on going through Gupton until I made mention to the dealership I bought my JKU from in 2016. They said they would price match them so I ordered from there. The local dealer also knew about the volume Gupton does and says they too are a volume dealer.

Who is this dealer? Western states are a desert for dealers willing to deal. SLC fell down to 5%, and a dealer in Idaho is supposed to have done a single 5% deal, but my dad tried and didn't even get 1%. The end. That's all of them.

Missouri is closer than Tennessee. If they'll deal, they might get some deals.

There's a law that protects dealerships from auto manufacturers selling direct. Dealership owners are more than happy to buy something for a buck and sell it to you for $2.

Back when M-B bought Chrysler, the M-B execs got around to investigating how much it cost Chrysler to build it's cars. M-B primarily bought Chrysler because they wanted to find newer, cheaper production methods.

Turns out that the difference between Chrysler's COGS (for lack of better term) and M-B's COGS were not that far apart. So basically, that $42,000 300 costs only $21,000 to build. The M-B E-class 350 that costs $60,000 only costs $22,000 to build.

The conversation has continued in PMs and real life. A call to the St. Louis dealership resulted in 8% off MSRP (specifics pending), with the claim that that's what Gupton does. We know that's not the case, and TheScott showed me a part of his invoice that is definitely better than 8% off MSRP (though the invoice dollar amount is not explicitly shown, it definitely looks to be pretty close to 8% under invoice). There are mitigating circumstances (trade-ins for instance), but so far it's shaping up to beat the dealers in Idaho and SLC that supposed to be/used to be good for 8% under invoice (both came in at not quite 1% under invoice). A dealer in the Denver area was finally found that would honor Tread Lightly (that has been a pretty huge disappointment). Note: I'm working on a Ram 2500 for my dad, not a Gladiator for me (yet... come on MY22 details!). My dad put a call into Gupton this afternoon, but Daniel is out. Waiting on a call back.

Where did you go? St. Louis is closer to me than Gupton...Kane County, Illinois, 40ish minutes west of Chicago! Or was that a reward from being a past customer?

My dad put a call into Gupton this afternoon, but Daniel is out. Waiting on a call back.

Just a FYI, send him an email with your build .pdf from ramtrucks.com using a personal email (gmail, yahoo, etc.).

Email is the best way to contact him, this is the consensus after 50+ pages and my own experience.

I personally left 3 VMs and never got a return call, I also sent an email from my work(corporate email), personal private email(personalized domain.com), and from a gmail. He only ever received the gmail message and responds promptly during central timezone hours.

If you absolutely must speak with someone at the dealership on the phone, you can likely chat with Renee but she isn't the one doing the ordering as far as I know.
