Looking at the same rig this weekend, glad to hear it tows well behind the Glad, not sure we need the double bunks, it's just me, the wife and two dogs, the kids can get their own camper. As I get older my new motto is "leave them nothing" haha!
On the other hand the dogs might appreciate their own bunk :)
We were in the same boat, just the wife and I and 2 dogs. We looked at the bunk house first, mainly for the extra storage capabilities with the bunks but the full size bed was a deal breaker. I'm 6'3 and like to stretch out, the FBS we bought has an actual queen size bed and we find it has a better layout especially with the sofa on the slide out. You definitely won't regret getting either, we love ours.

Took a second look at this, I'm 6'1" and could not stand in the shower, would have to sit
Now looking at the Winnebago 2018TB 21 foot trailer, double axle, power tongue and jacks and comes in at 3900#;s they are proud of them at 31k

I've read all 60+ pages of the "what do you tow" thread and a few others plus the "burned to the ground" thread, have a question;
Would you feel comfortable towing a dual axle camper that weighs 4900 #'s unloaded with a tongue weight of 525#'s giving the obvious of brake controller and sway bars and maybe WD system with a Rubicon? Trying to decide on a camper for the wife and I.
I have the overland so its rated a little lower towing capacity (6000 lbs.) We have a dual axel travel trailer that weighs ~3800lbs unloaded. The jeep tows it ok but we've been camping at some pretty high elevations and it struggles up some hills, slowing down to like 35-40mph on some passes. The trans temp gets pretty high at times too - 215 sometimes.
Maybe the different gearing and suspension of the rubicon would make up the difference between empty weights in our trailers. Or if you're at lower elevation (I'm in Denver and so far have just towed up to even higher elevations) and don't have steep, sustained climbs that would make a huge difference too.
As long as you don't overload the trailer you will be able to tow it safely, but just be prepared to go slow and fill up with gas often. If you're not dead set on that particular trailer, I'd consider looking for a lighter option.

If you can find one the KZ 181RD is awesome.

Big Bed, Big Fridge Big storage. Dry weight is just over 3300# so lighter on the payload. Standard Queen bed in the front. The dinette area you can actually use. and storage everywhere. Not much cooking area but I do that outside anyway. Shower is tight but the dome/skylight lets you stand up fine. My new Rub-EcoDiesel pulls it amazing. 18MPG 65-68mph.

We live in the flat lands of SC, elevation 12 feet :)
We may travel to the foothills of NC will probably do a lot of traveling to Florida.
I think in NC elevation is maybe less than 4k for the most part, lot of 2k and the highest point at 6k, my first thought on the weight is stopping going down some of the winding roads

Winnebago Minnie pulled by Willy’s diesel. 11.5 mpg. Need A good weight distribution hitch. I suggest taking it to a person that specializes in trailer hitches, if you have an RV dealer install the hitch it’s like ordering fish at a steak restaurant.

16' Airstream / 4,300 max gvw / 3,500 empty weight / 575 tong weight (using scale)

Tows like a dream, no sway, no bouncing, towing on the ball, no WDH, rounded front and sides gives her an easier foot print thru the air, Firestone Air Bags on Gladiator Overland. Little to no changes in Trans, oil, water temps towing or not towing @ 65 MPH. I need to be careful of loading the Overland. Not having a WDH saves about 100 lbs of payload (weight of the WDH itself). My max cargo on "this" Overland is 1035 lbs. If I go over this 1035 lbs I move items to over the axle inside the trailer where I have available lbs to carry. The 800 lbs of available loading on trailer is more than I ever use.

have a sport s max tow that towed a 3500 lb kubota tractor with front end loader and rotary mower that brought me very close to the 7500 lb max. My temps were normal and even going up and down hills from Tyler TX to Mena AR, the engine wasn’t labored.

That is a nice little rig!
Is that canopy on the left side just for those two small windows?
Is there a canopy on right side as well?
Tongue weight seems high, but aero wise, should pull nice!

Yes, awnings on both sides of the trailer. Most weights on the ball are higher then both the MFG states and what you find your self. It is always an issue when people talk about their rigs.

Yes, the JT should handle an Airstream Bambi or BaseCamp without any issuesm as long as you watch your tongue weight and truck cargo capacity. A Bambi or Winne Micro Mini would be the biggest RV I would want to tow with a Gladiato.

That said, I tow a Kubota tractor on a trailer with a combined weight of around 4,000 lbs, with my JT Sport S, but would not a large RV that heavy. Towing an RV is much different than a loaded equipment trailer, due to the larger frontal area of an RV, with limits of the JT with its 45-55 sq foot frontal area of a trailer limit. A 7-foot wide by 8-foot high trailer is 56SqFt. I got a nĂĽCamp TaB400, 3500 lbs gross weight with a 450lbs tongue weight, and it tows just fine with its 45 SqFt frontal area. I did add max two springs and shocks to keep rear end from squatting past level with the loaded trailers, and to improve the ride.
cheers

SURE, I have a sport max tow, I haul a 33ft 5900 lb camper. A weight dist ribution hitch is a must and high wind days aren’t fun. Light truck tires are a must, I tried hauling with the passenger tires that came on it and that wasn’t any fun.

We just traded in our wildwood fsx by Forest river for a larger camper and while I will say the Gladiator towed it pretty well, I will advise to not buy that TT. The build quality is terrible. We have a Starcraft 26bhs now and it is on the heavy side. I am taking it up tomorrow fully loaded (with all our gear and my wifes decorations) to the cat scales to see what it weighs (its a close trip 3 miles away). If it's too heavy then we will be using the ram to tow it, but we will see. If it is under my gcwr and axle gawr it will be making the trip to NC from FL in a few days for thanksgiving.

Before you ask we normally tow with the gladiator because my ram is my work truck and with all the tools it's a pain to unload everything.

Edit: per the scales the wildwood weighed 3728 loaded (3300 and some change per the sticker). We have a wdh, sway control, and a brake controller, the starcraft weighs 5700 per the sticker, will let you know the actual weight tomorrow. The gladiator is a max tow. My profile says I own a diesel, not anymore, it died in an unfortunate accident on the way to work.

That’s not a max tow. There is no max tow on Willys.
