Gladiator Diesel Bottoming Out Poll - Let’s get some numbers here.

Ok cause I don't know what it stands for. What does TSB mean? I got off the phone with Jeep cares and the only open case they said I have open is my leaking right rear axle. How is it that I still get bottom out and they closed the case? Is Lisa still involved in this whole process? Is this on us as individuals now? Tried reaching out to Lisa. Just says don't leave a voicemail. Stay on line for next available person. She was the original person who helped me out.

Technically service bulletin—they issue one when they find something wrong they need to fix before issuing a recall to fix it

Here is the JL forum TSB list they keep updated. To my knowledge this forum doesn’t maintain a list, but the JL has some applicability to our JTs, so I keep tabs on it and my wife has a JL.

Drive it and find some potholes and bumps before you put that on.

I just picked up my eco gladiator last week. I have already put 800+ miles on it. I absolutely love every aspect of it EXCEPT THIS ISSUE! If I go over uneven street surface/bumps at 8-10 mph+, it bottoms out. Very disappointing a 65k car marketed for offroading does this. I have an appointment set for next week. I know nothing will be resolved. Hopefully enough people report this issue.

Yea, totally upsetting … JeepCares admits that there is a problem the lift will solve the problem, and there is no other fix for this problem at the moment. And JeepCares cannot help with providing the lift as a fix.

I feel a little betrayed by a company that I’ve supported. I’ve purchased;

Not to mention all the Chrysler products I shoved onto my friends and family. Mom has a Fiat 124 spider and sister on her second challenger …

I know I am blowing this out of proportion, but at some point it feels good to be taken care of, like I take care of others.

WOW…… I really concert about this issue, I just order a rubicon eco diesel about two weeks ago. I not planing to install a lift kit. I ordered the diesel because I’m going to used for towing a RV with my family and dog, sorry no cat. Really going fishing and start photograph with a telescope. So rubicon is 60% of what I need. I don’t want to raised the rubicon because it is going to affect the mpg. I perfect to install a extra tank. But if the rubicon is not safe to drive. I thinking of cancel the order getting the Toyota….,!!!! It seemed the Jeep have to many issue that Jeep don’t fix it before it before it came out to production, like the liking oil.

Hello all, bought my truck 5 days ago. I made this account for this specific issue I did NOT know about nor was I told by my dealership before purchase. I feel like I have been swindled. I never would have bought it had I know. When I go over bumps at 20MPH or so, I hear a bump from the front. This seems like this could cause long term damage to the vehicle.

How do we know that @JeepCares wont give us the mopar lift as a fix? That is THE fix. They should do the right thing and do this for us. Then in the future, make it standard and tack on the price onto future vehicle sales. I did not buy this vehicle for this to be happening. It seems dangerous and seems like a lawsuit should follow if they refuse to give us a fix. A fix they have NOW might I add. Also yes, I am fuming and Yes I have contacted a lawyer about this.

Not everyone is affected by this issue, but it is an issue. However remember, those with issues are the most likely to raise a stink, there are many eocideiel owners that are very happy with their trucks.

I’m not sure that it would be unsafe to drive as much as it is very annoying for a vehicle marketed for being what it is and with the eco diesel easily costing north of $55,000.

I personally would not get a Toyota after living with one for three weeks, although a great truck I felt it was no comparison to the Gladiator for off road use and when you factor in the torque from the eco diesel it is not even close. You do pay a premium for the Jeep however.

In the end, I didn’t let a few posts on the internet deter me from the eco diesel. Time will tell if I’m a fool. I was not affected by the bottoming out although I picked up mine already with a lift and 37’s because it’s what I wanted.

In terms of highway even with 37’s I average north of 22mpg highway with a non broken in engine. I’d bet on 35’s or slight lift with stock tires to correct this issue, if it exists for you, I would wager mpg loss would be negligible.

At the end of the day, your money, your Jeep and you need to decide - but I absolutely love mine!

The suspension, among other purposes, serves to keep the vehicle in traction with the road AND, by reason of full use of travel, to protect many undercarriage components from stress and breakage due to direct transfer of impact forces.

It is unsafe, albeit not during normal driving conditions, but in the instances when you may need it the most. Ford Explorers didn't just flip over as they were driving down the road on a sunny day. And they too were made unsafe due to the manufacturer (who were aware of the problem before releasing the vehicle to the public) cutting corners by selling them with an inadequate cheaper suspension component (a skinnier tire.)

Jeep has wittingly followed this same path though it can be argued it may not be as obvious, prolific, or as dangerous as the first Ford Explorers, it has nonetheless repeatedly demonstrated faultiness under regular driving conditions.

Agree with Jefe1018, the bottoming out issue is an annoyance for sure, but there’s still much I like about my JTRD. I’ve put 3700 miles on mine purely traveling on two road trips and it’s been a great truck so far. My only request is for Jeep to recognize this is an issue and then take steps to remediate the problem for us as customers.
