@OrangeCJ @WXman I saw you talking about oil leaks, do you guys have any more details such as location?

I ask cause I am noticing some re occurring oilly residue collecting basically just under the area of my charge tube at the screw clamp. I first noticed some film on the hose clamp screw and the chrome stand off straps for the insulation or engine cover, can't recall which. It's in the general vicinity of the EGR but that seems dry.

I have my engine cover and foam blocks removed and don't run them as I like to see what my motor is doing.

It can be from anywhere around the timing cover. My 2020 Ram leaked on the driver side. My Jeep is leaking on the passenger side. It both cases it drips down onto the oil pan bolts before staining the driveway.

@rharr I am seeing in the same spots you mentioned... also all over the firewall heat shield... and it is running down to the upper control arm, and all over the joint.

CJ, mine isn't that bad, as it is not running down anything. But I also cleaned it at 3k and now 7k.

So is this leak with the residue a indication of a timing cover leak or something else?

WX care to elaborate what you saw on your 2015? Just drips or also residue on the top side of the motor?

Are we talking about the Timing cover at the front of the motor covering the cam chain to the head?

This cover, I posted the video when the cover is removed.

Or are we talking about a leaky valve cover?

The resealing of the timing cover seems to be quite the chore to do, the valve cover maybe a touch easier.

not trying to jump to conclusions but is your turbo getting coated in oil? If so that seems like a good chance of a fire hazard.

It sounds like you guys may have a loose turbo pipe or oil line if your turbo is wet. The leak I'm talking of is the timing cover leak that runs down and makes the bottom of the engine wet.

Mine was leaking from the timing chain cover and oil cooler. It was dripping onto the differental and to the ground. The dealer resealed the timing chain cover and replaced the gasket on the oil cooler two weeks ago. It was a 2.5 day job. I returned it back to the dealer last wed for the same oil leak and new fuel leak. They said the oil was coming from the oil cooler still and they think its warped and will replace the whole unit. Seems they damaged a fuel injector when they did the job the first time. They said they had to do about 4 of theses fixes, other oil leaks they fixed were sensor leaks.

Just got the call from the dealership. They cannot locate the leak... They need it for a week to pull the cab.

Unbelievable.

Think I will get a second opinion from the dealer I ordered it through... Who knows what gremlins will appear when they have some rookie tech pull the body off. Anyway looks like they need me to pull all my accessories anyway to take the cab off... Hilarious really... by the time I get this thing running good I should be able to open my own 4WD Shop installing and uninstalling, and installing parts.

they should be able to use tracer dye in the oil to help find the leak
That's what they did on my Ram EcoDiesel. Side benefit is that after the repair you get a free oil change as a part of the repair. :)

Well...add me to the oil leak gang. Right side/ passenger side, I get like 2 drips, coming off an oil pan bolt, when I park for a few hours. ******** my dealer didn't hear of this issue before, clueless!

Had similar leak, a month or so after I installed AFE charge pipes. Ended up being the o-ring that came with the charge pipe to the turbo outlet. They used an o-ring that was not rated for that heat, which caused it to harden and crack. Replaced it with a high temp o-ring and no more leak for a few months now.

My leak would pool up back where the FPR connector plug is, and run down the passenger rear side.
When you say "they" you mean AFE?

Did the charge pipe make any difference?

Yes, AFE. Minimal difference if any, slightly more turbo spool up noise. It's been 15k miles since installed, so don't remember exactly.
SO not worth the 500 dollar investment?

So I dropped it at the dealer last Monday at 8am. Talked to the service tech and he said he was confident I would have it back by Friday. Checked in mid week, no update. Got a text on Friday saying they were ordering parts, but back order. Asked him to call and let me know what is going on, said sure, but I never got a call. I asked if I should plan on seeing my JT after the new year? He said it should be wrapped up by Tuesday... tomorrow. Seems laughable given all the the other comments I have heard lately, but let's see!

I understand not having parts, and I know I ran additional risks with a first Gen vehicle (Diesel JT) but I hate false expectations, and people not doing what they say they will do Drives me Nuts!

Just missing my Jeep, and needed to vent!
