Yes, you are right that putting the bunkboards/rollers in the water will make it much easier to get the boat on the trailer. I could be wrong but I think I've heard in some countries it's illegal to put your axles in the water. The theory being that axle lubricants can leach out and pollute the water. That being said, I haven't heard of any such law here in the states. It is illegal in my state to "power on" to your trailer though. Of course I've never seen any officers enforce it. Those guys are dopes. I was waiting for the rope/wire to snap and come back and hit him when he was cranking away and it didn't appear that the boat was moving. Ouch.I am a complete novice, but aren't you supposed to have the trailer submerged so the weight of the boat is manageable and it slides onto the rails fully?
I think the pink attire and the MINI don't help the case either
Even if the motor doesn't overheat, the rubber water pump could melt.Quite dumb, those motors use water as coolant and I thought it would overheat. Even if they didn't the idea of
I can just feel myself getting pissed off watching this…. I want to slap this fcuk into the 24th century.

I always found the boat ramp thing amusing and confusing - meaning I was confused how many people had boats but were clueless and it scared me to take a boat out onto the water knowing THEY were out there, too!I know , right? Boat ramps are very special places. People seem to lose all common sense when they get within 50' of one.
One year I was at the ramp to pull my sailboat ahead of a hurricane. A small powerboat came up behind me and I let him go ahead of me because my sailboat takes a bit of time to pull. Noticed it was the governor of our state. He's known as a klutz. Well, his wife comes flying down the hill and swings her Chevy 2500 and the trailer into place like a champ (she's into horses and knows trailers apparently). He loads the boat and they drive off up the steep hill. I start loading my boat onto the trailer and hear a loud bang. I look up the hill and the governors trailer dropped off the ball and was hanging on the chains. They were so lucky it didn't roll all the way down the hill. It would have wound up in the bay. Anyway, the Governor scrambles out of the truck and manages to get it hooked back to the truck with the help of some folks standing around. All this happened with a news crew like 100' away . They were taping the ramp mayhem like usual when a hurrucane comes thru. They never caught on to what happened.....luckily for the Governor!
The funniest part was :"we're gonna be on the internet" - uh, ya think> HAThis thread can’t go without this clip
Front receiver? I have a clip for that too. ?I always found the boat ramp thing amusing and confusing - meaning I was confused how many people had boats but were clueless and it scared me to take a boat out onto the water knowing THEY were out there, too!
I farmed for several years - backing a boat trailer down a ramp is child's play. Try backing a 30' piece of equipment into a building with a 35' door, or backing a barge box or grain wagon (no, you turn the SAME way you want it to go with those, NOT like a trailer!) I've backed more equipment and implements and car haulers and whatever - and am so amused at the boat ramps. There's times I want to just take a good chair, a cooler of drinks, and sit and watch people on the ramp for entertainment.
On the other hand - hey, folks - got a truck or a Jeep - how about a FRONT RECEIVER!
Dude (or dudette) you can watch what you are doing that way!
you’d have company if you did this. People in my area will sit and watch the antics at the ramp.I always found the boat ramp thing amusing and confusing - meaning I was confused how many people had boats but were clueless and it scared me to take a boat out onto the water knowing THEY were out there, too!

If you are backing and want your trailer to swing to the left, you turn your steering wheel to the right.how did the farm tractors turn the same way backing? Is this a tractor that pivots in the middle? Forget what they call those……
I can just see the first Tesla autopilot fail trying to offload a boat. Remember, you heard it first here. It's coming.Boat ramp fails never get old.

Wow, yeah that would totally mess with my head if I had trailers that backed differently. If you are backing and want your trailer to swing to the left, you turn your steering wheel to the right.
With a grain wagon, the drawbar is connect to the front wheels and steers them. (they have 4 wheels and the front wheels steer) Grain wagon, hay rack, any of them with 4 wheels.
So as you back if you want the back of the wagon to go to the left - you turn the vehicle's steering wheel to the left. It's tough when you just backed a 30 plus foot grain head on a low-boy into storage as they back like a really long trailer, then you hop off and hook up to park the grain wagon or hay rack and have a totally different situation.
Doesn't matter if you are using a tractor, or a truck or Jeep on those wagons - you have to unlearn what you know about backing trailers.
In a way it's easier to back a hay rack or wagon with a tractor as you can apply the left or right brake to swing very quickly.
