Driveability, power production at desired RPM, engine longevity.
Is a SC really going to give you engine longevity? I kind of figured doing things like to an engine that it was not designed for would do the opposite.
And I would not mind having a more powerful engine in this thing, maybe after the warranty is us.

Dumbfounded -- and maybe I missed it. But, what exactly, are you doing with your driving that necessitates a different SC to your configuration?

I mean... if the stock JT wasn't sufficient, and yet you bought it... Then decided, you HAD to add a SC to get to your performance requirements. Then decided that wasn't quite enough, what unicorn are you chasing?
Pretty much what @DAVECS1 said. I haven't owned an unmodified vehicle in 20 years. Every vehicle I've owned has had some sort of turbo upgrade, supercharger upgrade, or tune. The gladiator is my first NA vehicle since my TJ wrangler and a reminder of why I love forced induction.

When I bought the Hamburger kit, there were no objective comparisons between kits. I wondered about the Magnuson since then and so I'm documenting the two kits and will provide an objective comparison for others.

No unicorns chased here. It's all about the journey and I'm having fun. The stock 3.6 sucks, the centrifugal supercharger is great up top but I want more midrange.

Too bad that ripp one had those bad coil reviews. That thing sounds awesome.

Did you re-gear?
I haven't re-geared. I'm running 3.73s. I was surprised I didn't lose more seat of the pants oomph going from the 33s to the 35s. 0-60 on the 33s was under 7 seconds, I haven't tested the 35s. In hindsight I should have done that before removing the Hamburger kit.

I know the gladiator isn't a race car but the 0-60 is a comparative metric.

this. Trying to merge this truck on 37’s with armor and a load is a joke without a blower. Especially at elevation.

assuming cylinder pressures are maintained, yes.

Following... I installed one of the first Magnuson SC's in the country in my buddy's TRD Pro 4-Runner. Amazing kit. Very well put together. Sounded awesome, and gave it a nice boost in power. I'd love to do a V8 swap, but this is definitely a possibility.

Two thumbs up!

After a light drive . Much different feel, I love controlling the boost with the right pedal. I need more whine!:CWL::LOL::LOL:

I'll share more details in the coming week after my knuckles recover.

Your p2 tune, of course ?
Get me some data when you can. I have encountered a couple operating systems that struggle a bit in 8 th when it is below 35 F. Nothing to worry about but it can be better. Also the pulley tune is pretty amazing. It needs some warm up gueling but that about it. I have 4 hours scheduled for the dyno starting the new year and I am planning on posting numbers for the first time ever.

Like CR I too haven't owned an unmodified vehicle in about 30 years and I while I love my tuned and boosted engines I have to disagree with this statement. I cannot see where this adds engine longevity. Maintains the current amount yes, but I don't think it will increase your engine life from stock.

No one said stock, he is making the switch from another brand.

I would make the argument, I have seen stock tunes with a number of anomalies that I would question in long term service. Weird VVT timing, super advanced timing for lean cruise, and lean acceleration. Add to that aggressive shift schedules to get the high rpm performance out of the 3.6.

I calibrate the drivetrain to run in a more conventional maner. I use acceleration enrichment for acceleration, and hold a sensible gear. I have spent hours on the dyno remapping the VVT so the cylinder pressures stay nice and even, through the RPM range. I have re done the timing maps so ignition stays closer to the Maximum Brake torque operation. Once that was done I went in and retuned the torque demand and throttle airflow modela to take advange of it.

So there is some credence to the point, this SC running my calibration may make the drivetrain last longer.

I could keep it simple and say my calibration runs aboust 1000 to 800 rpm less that a stock one for any given condition. So just less rotation on marginally more air. Less duty cycle

I'm really intrigued by this option. I'd really like to know how it would affect towing (light and heavy), MPG's, and it would be something that would make sense if one was planning on keep their JT till the wheels fell off...

i guess i dont understand what owning modified vehicles has to do with it. when it comes to typical reasons for failure outside tuning negligence or metallurgical failure- Cylinder pressures generally is what “breaks” things, and revs and duty cycle is what “wears” things. Heat also gets a say in everything.

its largely academic, but Dave is accurate.
