Installing my new AWE Trail exhaust today ( thanks @Josh/AWE ! )

Is there any value in the OEM system? Only asking because it’ll be easier to just cut it and remove in pieces. If this is something I could get $100 on Craigslist I’d keep it whole.

Not sure how many people would need a stock exhaust. What I have seen are several people looking to sell aftermarket exhausts when they decide to sell their Gladiator but they need someone to trade them a stock exhaust and cash to acquire the aftermarket one they are selling because they cut off the stock one when installing the aftermarket one. They now they need an exhaust on the vehicle to sell or trade along by trying to recoup some of the aftermarket exhaust cost. So really it comes down to how long will you keep the Gladiator and are you willing to lose the value of the exhaust in a trade if you go that route. If you plan to hold the Gladiator long term then I would say cut away. If you're a 3 and out type owner and would maybe try to part out some of your mods when you sell then don't cut.

Not unless you can find someone who chopped theirs and is looking to make a little reselling before trading in. There's potential, yes, but the market is small and you might be holding a complete exhaust system for a while.

Perhaps there is some scrap value.

Thanks everyone. I think the cut it in a wise place makes sense. Worst case scenario me (or an exhaust shop) puts basically a sleeve over it to mend the two pieces. I’ve got some room so will likely hang onto it for a bit.

Related: Would the Gladiator benefit from dual exhaust much with the 3.6L?

All my research is no. Intake and exhaust are really more about a little different sound if you’re into that. It’ll never be a V8, but we know that.

I’ve been told exhaust really only makes a difference when part of a much larger puzzle of forced induction/throttle body/etc. The normal formula of more air in, more air out.

Guessing my exhaust will add performance, but likely negligible at best. I bought it purely because
I like it and I want 1: a little more purr at idle and 2: no drone while cruising.

Use an exhaust pipe cutter to make a clean square cut. If you ever want to put it back together, just buy a band type exhaust coupler clamp.
