Hello! I have been the proud owner of a Mojave for almost a year. I am ready to rip the bumper off! Lol.

1. For those of you that have swapped out the bumper, for a steel one, have you noticed a change at all in the way it drives with the added weight? I am looking at some type of short steel bumper.

2. For those that live in the snow, would I be better served to spend the extra money for an aluminum one instead? I hear conflicting reports about the "rust factor", being an issue.

Any tips, or insight is greatly appreciated!!! We just moved to Colorado and new to this snow stuff. Lol

Regarding your questions
1) No substantial change in driving characteristics with the factory steel bumper (plus winch)
2) I debated about steel vs aluminum (more for weight than for corrosion) but landed on the side of steel due to concerns about performance in an impact (hopefully never needed)

Thank you! That is mostly what I was concerned with, was the weight. I figure if I keep it clean, and gashes covered up, it would be ok.

I just relocated near Loveland. I would definitely love to meet up one weekend!

Regarding the weight, the steel is obviously heavier, but I would be surprised if you could tell a noticeable difference by the "feel" of the added weight when you drive it. I would say most short or stubby aftermarket bumpers are heavier than the stock steel bumper because they're usually built with thicker steel, etc. I replaced the plastic front bumper on my '18 JLUR with a stubby steel aftermarket bumper, and I added a winch. I honestly couldn't tell a difference.

Regarding snow, we get some of that here in north TX. That's the white stuff we freak out about and stock up on milk and bread for 2 weeks for something that lasts maybe a day here. It gets below 50 degrees here and they send the salt trucks out.

Nice! I was hoping it would not be that big of a deal. I am not looking to add 130 lbs of full width. lol. I think most of the stubby's are about 60ish lbs, so maybe 30-40 lbs more than OEM plastic.


Lol. The snow doesn't bother me. I was out tearing it up this past weekend in it. I just worried long-term about the salt they lay down, and how that could cause rust.

If you have the Mopar soft trifold tonneau on your Mojave can you please tell me the height from a bed rib to the bottom of the toonneau?

I have this great SnapOn rolling tool box but it needs 17.5" minimum. Thanks much in advance.

I've just ordered my Mojave and reading through the forums here and came across your post. I've read how the towing on the Mojave specifically can be a little wonky. Have you had any issues with this at all? Curious how heavy that trailer is. thanks...

Have had my Mojave for 6 weeks now, Hydro Blue, light-Beige leather seats. Couldn't be happier with the way it drives. Handles the bumps with aplomb, steers great (not sue where the notion of a sloppy steering wheel came from which we see on the forum sometimes), plenty of acceleration from a 6 cylinder, tight turning radius, advanced off-road capabilities to name a few of its great attributes.

Only small areas for improvement:
1 The inside storage is adequate, but not great. Plenty of spots to store stuff, but they are mostly relatively small/tight.
2 It does ride great on the highway, but it does catch cross winds because the cab is so high. Not sure why they designed it like that maybe a carry-over from the wrangler or something.
3 This is 2022, still no hood or gas lock - lol! A little Jeep "arrogance" here. (Of course this has to be accepted going in).
