The latest regarding the engine MIL function light. Just got a call from the service adviser stating that Mopar fills up the Glad's at the factory with a full tank of gas, not the dealer. That gas was defective/polluted which was used during the period when first purchased on 3/12/22 and made it misfire. It's fine now he said after he drove it during the weekend, at my expense. He said the engine light is not on. The service department doesn't reimburse for gas used to test the vechile for the weekend. I'm going to be picking it up today and we'll find out if that light comes back on.
Hey, 4 x's the charm. Thoughts???

Sounds like they're not replacing your engine, so you should be good!

Honestly though, if that's the diagnosis and the light never returns, then you're fine. There was and still is absolutely no reason to just go and assume the whole motor needs to be replaced at any point in this.

The only reason I assumed that the engine would need to be replaced is because the dealer's service adviser on the 2nd week that the Glad was there when I called him about the Glad, he told me he had the same type of Glad in the shop and that engine was replaced. So he suggested that it may be replaced, too.

I thought the build sheet shows 4 gallons of fuel as part of the build, not a full tank?

It does. It is a bullshit story the factory fills it to full. Even with the 4 gallons put in, they should cycle through enough fuel at the plant so it does not go stale.

Good luck with it being the gas. Was told the same thing at 1,000 miles and was told to use octane 91 to help clean out system but was at the dealer following week with the same problem. Next i was told there was a PCM software update and was fime for a few week untile MIL came back on. They replaced the left side Cam and that solved my problem until just a few weeks ago with 35k miles MIL is back on they claimed that it could be coils. Sure enough it wasn't so back to desler and they did a new software update and kept the jeep for a whole week and they couldn’t get MIL to come back on, se we pick it up and following day it comes back on. Its time to call it a Lemon. Opened up a case but jeep has not returned my call in 13 after calling them almost every day. They claim my advisor or supervisor are not available. Sucks to get rid of my gladiator nut might not have another choice.

And...
The jeep was picked up today, the 23rd.
The shop put 333 miles on it. Left me no gas. $83 to fill it up again. See pic. I dropped it off 5/9/22 with 540 miles and got it back with 873 total. Bad gas from Mopar was why the MIL engine light was on, they said. See pic. Curious, any reason why the shop would write 22/Dodge Truck/ Gladiator on the receipt?
Anyway, the child is home and safe. Hope this never happens again. Btw, never did hear back from FCA Jeep customer service. Maybe a letter or someone should call to get an explanation from the stupidity of Mopar, if true, for not monitoring their gas supply.

Sorry to read about your story. I just looked up the South Carolina lemon parameters. Same as my past Florida residence. Did notice there is a mileage limitation here. 12 months or 12,000 miles. Anyway, bwill be sending certified mail to FCA to put them on notice, as the law suggests, and full documentation. Thanks for sharing.

Ahhh.....so the service manager was going away for the weekend and didn't want to put the extra miles on their personal vehicle.

Stay safe.

On a replacement engine or whatever on new vehicle I wouldn't be concerned about taking a "hit" on value. In some cases I'd be happy with it, when I got my 90XJ it got a dealership warranty replacement long block somewhere near 46000 miles or so. I don't remember the exact mileage. When I bought it they gave me a folder full of all of it's services. Bought and traded in at same dealership at 75-80 k. The best deal was a fresh engine, the transmission was what finally killed it. Ran hard long time, towing and off-roading.

Well, finally after two days of no reply spoke with FCA rep and gave her the paperwork regarding the work and abuse this Glad went through at the dealership. She said a Star case was generated. I guess that means FCA wants to see the Glad again in the near future. That's all folks, for now. Minus the 333 miles driven at the dealer over two days. And an empty gas tank. With me cleaning up the passenger's footprints on the interior dash. And the sand in the truck bed and stick sh_t on the consoles.

This would have been a great time to use a battery powered tracker (that you could later download) to see where/how they drove it.

Should've definitely documented that how filthy it was returned alone. Shouldn't have taken 333miles to diagnose that as someone said above that sounds like a beach vacation joyride.
