Some sort of shipping brace or tie down. Possibly even a manufacturing piece that has been overlooked.
It's interesting how it engages the control arm. Maybe it's designed to catch loose bolts when they fall out. ?

My guess is that it’s Jeeps response to these issues that keep cropping up in small over lap crashes.

I wonder if those issues exist with the steel bumper...

Watching the setups of that test, the only thing a Jeep has to hit in that area is the tire. There is only a plastic fender, and a flimsy plastic and thin metal bumper. (seriously, you can bend the bumper by hand with no tools). The Jeep will also follow the barrier sliding along the frame because of nothing to stop it... forcing it over to the passenger side fairly violently. Unlike other vehicles that are tested, where they have a better crash bar, and actual body panels.

Leave it to Jeep to put the most non aesthetic fix to an issue. I would probably live with it if the other side had the same for symmetry but my OCD would have me inclined to remove and trash it.

Why does everyone with a gobi colored gladiator have to say gobi when they talk about it. You never hear anyone say my silver billet gladiator. It’s just a color ?
