Hi all….just looking for any guidance on how to secure a rental/loaner from jeep. My 2020 gladiator needs a new transmission, which is insane. When I first purchased the truck it broke down on me twice needing to be towed to the dealership with like 200 miles on it both times. Loose PCM. Now this. The dealership is saying that once the order the transmission (today) I can call Chrysler and try to get a rental. I’ve already been without a vehicle for 3 days. I had to fight with them and refused to take the jeep back until they resolved the issue. It kept getting stuck in 3rd gear and threw code P0733. They tried to send me home with it and told me it was a stored code after it happened again. Needless to say I did not accept that and now I’m getting a new transmission. I’m having a hard time trusting what the dealership is saying regarding the rental so if anyone has had a similar experience and can provide some insight that would be great. Thanks!

You need to send a Message to JeepCares and ask for their help. They don't respond publicly, other than to tell you to send them a message.

What’s up with these transmissions needing replaced so soon? Crazy
Seems like I have only been reading of 850RE failures (gas motor)

Knock on wood…. Hoping the 8hp75’s will hold up.

Wonder the probability of having a 8hp75 installed over the 850re.

Not sure the $$ difference- ratios are the same.

I heard they’re the same, just one is assembled by FCA and the other by the Germans and imported over.

I do wish the option for the 850RE wasn’t available though if it’s not the case, because when I got my wrangler in 2020 the 8HP75 was the only available option in the gas for the auto too.

They are “the same” but different…. The power that they can hold is set at differnt levels. Later today if I get the chance I’ll come back and edit this with a few links to some reading. I was curious why if they had the same ratios build a separate transmission…. Turns out this transmission in different variations is in a ton of vehicles… the changes have to do with the hp/tq differences (short synopsis)

Now that I haven’t read!
So that will make data collection a little more fun. 2020 gas motors came originally with the 8HP75? And I’m assuming later changed to the 850re…..

Well great. I’m sure most folks didn’t keep their window sticker to recall what their earlier models came with to note the failure.

I’m not sure why it wasn’t an issue in ‘20 when the 8HP75 was the only available option in auto and now you have to get the 850RE if you want auto in the gas. Maybe something to do with the gas turbo Jeeps? I’m not sure…

Yeah bud, that was the only available option in auto until the turbo diesel and then they made a separate option for the RE in the gas.

I guess it has something to do with etorque but to my knowledge my 3.6 doesn’t have etorque so it’s a wash for me.

I believe by and large that the 850RE's are very reliable ... anything can have an issue. It's how these problems are handled by the dealerships that is an increasing concern.
Shouldn’t have more issues than the 8HP75 though, unless FCA isn’t building it right
