I’m curious..

Do you have a lift/bigger tires? Do any regearing or anything? Just trying to see if additional weight can impact the transmission, since I had a buddy with a similar issue in his 2020, but he did some wild stuff to it.
Got the jeep lifted 3" two months ago. Also got bigger tires at the same time.

How much does the v8 version go for? If I decide to try to switch up to the V8 what all would need to be upgraded?

From my research a quality V8 conversion is going to run you at least 40k in parts and labor, though it would get you a new 8hp transmission at the same time. That’s why the ‘standard’ a/t is out there at places like rubitrux.com.

Update: After pretty close to a month of waiting and following up and waiting and following up, @JeepCares decided to cover 80% percent of the cost of the transmission and repair. Though I wish this could have been handled quicker (I have been out of a vehicle for a month now), i am extremely grateful that they decided to offer the assistance as many car manufacturers would not have. I don't take this lightly and truly appreciate their help. It goes a long way!

If you're reading this and thinking about buying a gladiator here are some take aways:

1. From what I've seen on these discussion boards, this problem isn't a normal one for the automatic transmissions (manual transmissions have been recalled)

2. Jeep will stand by their products and do what's right by their customers even when they are not legally obligated to

3. Be patient, follow up and don't take no for an answer.

Thanks to anyone who's helped me during this process. Even people who just commented truly made me feel like I wasn't alone in this process. Even the people that said comments like " Stories like this are so sad." truly gave me the push i needed to continue reaching out to jeep for assistance.

I think your dealership service records probably played a big portion in them covering that much as a goodwill repair. A good dealership will go to bat for you if you have an established relationship. I have seen people with less told to pound sand.

Glad it worked out for you.

It's really disheartening when issues crop up right after the warranty expires. Given your high mileage from sales-driving, wear and tear can add up faster than expected. Have you looked into any refurbished or aftermarket transmission options? I came across a listing for a 700r4 transmission for sale that might offer a more budget-friendly alternative. It could be worth exploring to see if there are options that fit your needs and budget. Hang in there, and hopefully, you'll find a solution that gets your Jeep back on track without breaking the bank.
