I think it is important to remember that the production of this vehicle required ripping up the old JK assembly line and replacing it with a production line for a pickup truck. The last JK just came off the line in early May so it has only been about 4 months - there is a lot involved with this changeover. I think it is probably 6 months until production starts and then they have a shake-down period running vehicles through the line and working out the bugs. I think it's January 2019 before road ready vehicles come off this line.
I thought they ripped up the Cherokee line and moved that one out of Toledo to help increase capacity of Wranglers in addition to Gladiators. Or am I just rambling? ;)

Possibly. The 2019 Ram 1500 still isnt being sold withe the Diesel but it was promised for 2019 and so was the Diesel in the JL. You would think they would be pushing this as hard as possible to get it certified.
The Ram & GC with the 3.0 are showing up at dealerships, and are on the build pages on the innerwebs.

Then the JLs shouldn't be far behind paving the way for the JT. And the certification for the JL diesel should effectively clear the way for the JT diesel, right?

Other than the length of the exhaust pipes, the engine/ECU/transmission/emissions are the same as these parts should direct interchange between JL/JT.

I think this is still the Gen 1 motor not the Gen 2. I didn't see the Diesel on the 2019 1500 page, only the 2018 Ram 1500 Classic:

Hell they don't even have the V6 BSG listed on the 2019 Ram page.

Might just mean a flat bed floor with no wheel wells protruding into the bed.
That makes sense. As long as its >48" then i'm ok with that.

I agree no diesel at launch is ludicrous, although my JK is fine with 80K miles I am planing on buying a travel trailer in the spring after I buy my diesel JT....... don't ruin my plans FCA
We bought the 2018 JLU for the wife and I'm supposed to get the Gladiator when it comes out for us to tow a travel trailer. So tired of driving my Ram 2500 and towing a 27 foot 5th wheel rv.

If Jeep thinks I'm going to spend $4,500 for the diesel, they're wrong. Staying with a gas V6 better not lower the tow rating much.

It may not lower the actual rating much, but it's going to suck to tow with a lot more than the Diesel.

It was a 4500 upgrade over the v6 on the wk2. But the hemi was like 3000 or something. Really between v6,hemi or diesel. I would have gotten the hemi or diesel only

So we are looking at +$4.5K to $6K for the diesel engine plus we ALSO have to pay +$2K for the automatic transmission, right?

That's basically +$8K to get a diesel engine. I've been waiting on this engine to arrive AND waiting on the JT chassis, but geez...

Price gouging for sure.
