Hi Folks,

The safelite tech just told me he can't work on my Gladiator because it is throwing so many codes he won't be able to calibrate it.

I don't have any lights on the dash, and I don't have anything wrong with my jeep that I'm aware of. He showed me a huge list of codes and honestly I have no idea what to do about it.

I replaced the canbus a couple months ago because it was lighting me up like a xmas tree...but since then everything has been fine.

Any suggestions for how I move past this? I replaced the battery (both) not long ago. I would have thought that would have erased any lingering codes. The safelight tech says these codes are all "fresh."

Anyone else ever experience having their vehicle have a bunch of codes without any symptoms or lights on? The codes cover everything from the radio to the transmission to the blind spot sensor to the antilock breaks to the AutoStart etc. All of these things work fine in everyday driving.

Ideas on next steps would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I’m assuming this is the windshield with the sensor in front of the rearview mirror to hit the brakes for you? That would be the only thing that could need calibration. I had a special order mine just to not get that option. No way I could live with that. I can hit my own brakes thank you.

Dude, you might wanna reconsider that next time you buy.

It doesn't just hit the brakes for you. It adjusts your speed automatically when you have the cruise control set. If you've ever been annoyed at the guy in front of you that keeps speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, slowing down - then ACC is for you. Set it and forget it.

My Gladiator is the only vehicle I own WITHOUT Adaptive Cruise Control and damn I hate that. Wife's car and my Bronco both have it. If it wasn't such an expensive hassle to add it after the fact to the Glad....I'd do it. But from what I've read online, the programming is a bigger bitch than my local dealership. No way I'd ever be able to get that working and they would be ZERO help.

I also purposely ordered mine without that stuff. I'm also not using cruise very often.

Ex girlfriend had it in her Rav4 though. Not a bad feature to have.

I can't help but wonder if the problem isn't actually with the Safelite tech's scanner. There've been a number of other posts about multiple unexplained or confusing codes showing up when scanned with one reader, but a normal or expected result seen when a different scan tool was used.

Kind of surprised they checked codes first. I had my window replaced and the only time they hooked up a PC was to calibrate the adaptive cruise control after replacement.

Is that what is wrong with people I deem WTF you idiot. WTF are you slowing down for? They have a vechicle that says OMG you're to fuckin close you need to slow down. Ohh shit speed back up no no slow down. That drives me insane no way I'd ever have that on my vechicle.
It's like just GTFO the way learn how to drive middle finger deployed as I pass them in the right lane.

Did you clear the codes after replacing the canbus?
I believed I had, but admittedly I'm no expert using the basic OBD reader I have. It gave me the option to delete...I said yes, and I thought it was cleared. I'm assuming there is something in that flow that I don't understand...that is leaving the codes there even though I thought they were cleared.

My ignorant thoughts are:
1) Maybe I need a more advanced OBD reader
2) Maybe there is a "block" that prevents "us" from erasing codes that I need to work around
3) Maybe my Jeep is throwing codes even though I see no symptoms of the issues reported
4) Maybe I should have left the Tiki Idol on the beach in Hawaii where I found it.

My understanding is the camera that is behind the windshield near the rearview mirror needs to be recalibrated for safety systems to function properly. I'm with you. I can hit my own brakes but this Jeep came with all the safety stuff when I bought it used.

That's a fun variable I hadn't considered.

Just circling back to say that I got this issue resolved by bringing it to a shop, having them clear the codes, the morning of the windshield replacement.

Of my options above about where I was wrong...it turns out I would have needed a more advanced reader to clear the codes in my Gladiator vs. the one I need to clear them in my JKU. Living and learning.
