As much as I wanted a v8 or even FI v6, a plug in hybrid gladiator is likely going to end up being the sweet spot. They can essentially stick whatever they want up front and have a several hundred HP/torque electric setup running the rear wheels. Fully electronic torque control on the rear wheels will make crawling a near automated feature. You can easily have a 4-500hp setup like this and get 50+ MPG, not to mention battery only driving. Look at the rav4 Prime as an example...302hp AWD, 90MPG, 42 miles battery only option, plug in hybrid....with the new euro emissions laws and globalization, expect the electrified stuff to be marketed pretty heavy.

This is what I've always heard too. The Q4 motors are the V8 from the Ferrari 458 with 2 cylinders taken off and turbos added. The 404hp version is not the same and is only used in Maserati's.
If someone were to offer a 3.6L rebuild kit with the twin turbos that was identical to the Maserati version, for an affordable price (say, less than $10K total) that would be a HUGE and popular upgrade for all 3.6L owners everywhere. And with those kind of numbers, it would be a drop-in rebuild, without modifications other than the turbos and the engine's internals. And you'd have 400HP and probably 400+ TQ. That would be a nice upgrade in power for the price. I could see that being a very popular upgrade if someone offered it.

I hope they ramp up the electric tech. It's honestly the future. Traditional lockers, transfer cases, and 4 wheeling as we know it would change. These trucks would be insanely capable with motors at each wheel. Even now there's technology to dig turn that could be implemented with a software flash, so Jeep is leaving a lot of meat on the bone.
