I'm approaching 17,000 miles on my 2021 JTD Rubicon and I have had no problems. I did have the MOPAR lift installed at the dealership before I drove it home. I installed a Warn Zeon 12S winch and
35X12.5X17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on Fuel Off Road 17"X9" wheels.

3:73 Gears seem to be exactly right for the available torque. The only minor complaint I have is that the JTDR is a bit light in the rear and it will break the rear tires loose if you don't have a light throttle foot on slick or muddy surfaces.
Psst, it’s the torque. Not that it’s light. ;);)

Is the argument that Diesel fuel is hard to find while overlanding in certain remote areas of western USA a valid concern in selecting the Diesel engine?
Honestly, it doesn't matter if it's gasoline or diesel, fuel can be scarce in certain remote areas of the western USA. I live in northern New Mexico in a fairly remote location. I like that diesel fuel can be stored for long periods of time. I like that diesel can easily be stored in containers for transport. I also like that onboard fuel tanks can be added to my trucks. Here's my 2020 EcoDiesel with an onboard fuel tank/toolbox combo.

Just took delivery of a Willys version w diesel power. I really like this set up. Plenty of power, very good fuel mileage, averaging 23-25 according to the lie-o-meter on the dash. I havent manually hand calculated it but observing the fuel gauge i would say pretty close. Only having 19 gal tank is a con. Bed is pretty small, an aux tank would render it to the poor catagory

I don't have any photos of the install, but it's a pretty straight forward process. Mine has a pump that can transfer fuel manually or automatic. The company is called The Fuel Box.

There are some small aluminum gravity fed tanks on the market that come in various shapes and sizes. I've seen 10 and 15 gallon tanks, which are very small and don't take much room.

Loving my Rubi Diesel so far!

Bought mine the last day of the year and have only about 800 miles so far. I'm loving it! Drives like a dream. It'll put you back in the seat some for sure. I'll probably get mine tuned after the warranty runs out in a couple years and can't wait. I put about 30,000 miles per year on one as it's a work vehicle. Still stock so far but planning on a 2.5-3.0 with 35" with the Falcon 3.3 Adj. shocks. I get deliveries for my store every other week and need to go 1300 pounds or so which is a few hundred over my payload but 1. even with these stock Fox shocks the bumps don't bottom and 2. more importantly I only have to go a quarter mile to unload. Those adjustable shocks will come in handy especially because I camp and hike a lot and want this JT in an Overlanding config. a lot. And as a daily driver it'll be nice to adjust back and forth.

Averaging around 22.5 MPG right now with 33" MT's and a lot of short trips and sitting idle at times. Hwy. MPG in in well above that. I bet the FL Jeepers are getting crazy good mileage on the flatter terrain. JMO but I'm not worried long-term about the overheating issues we're hearing. I fully expect an innovation and more permeant workaround eventually and probably soon.

Sorry for the long post.

I just don't trust the VM diesel. I wish FCA went with the Cummins 2.8 instead.

I don't know. The Cummins 5.0L was a disaster in the Titan. To the point that it was discontinued early. The 2nd gen EcoDiesel has its problems, too. Based on what we've seen so far, the 3rd gen EcoDiesel has been great. I've got 100,000 miles on my 2nd gen EcoDiesel with no problems and 15,000 miles on my 3rd gen EcoDiesel with no problems. VM Motori has been building diesels for decades.

Ive always went Diesel when available due to longevity. I know half a million miles isn't a lot spread over 3 motors but considering they were all trouble free is a win in my book. So it was a no brainier for me this time....
