See the new Bronco - Ford figured this out...
Yep. That really frustrates me, almost as much as the mirrors themselves and how crap they are.

But Mopar would rather charge us $300 for doors off mirrors, then more money again if we also want tube doors....

Of course the A pillar folds down on the JL and JT so... We still aren't looking behind us with the mirror on the A Pillar. How a about here? The aftermarket has some solutions that utilize this area.

Yep that area would be perfect. Or if something like quadratec's JK mirror movers was in place. At one point I was looking at aftermarket truck mirrors and cube light brackets and was close to an idea for something.

So I'm looking at getting mine ordered finally but feel it's a terrible time because in about 3 months when I'd be looking at doing it there will be new options I'm assuming, so the question comes do I get it ordered and then regret not waiting the extra couple months ...
Yeah that's a tough question and one I have considered a lot. I think the best advice I've received here is: You're buying the Jeep for a lot of reasons, and about zero of them are whatever it is that comes out in the next model year. So just get the Jeep when you're ready for it and enjoy.

That being said, I'm not in a position where I need the thing right now, and every month I wait gets me closer to more options and a bigger down payment. So I'm willing to hang out for a while longer.

Not much on our jeeps causes me scratch my head. But the mirrors? Really? Still? I mean com'on Jeep, still? Its not like the doors coming off is a new feature!

Of course, when your vehicle is a jeep, you have to look for the shit that's not just right!

Can you use them with the doors on?
Nope, they remove easily by unscrewing a knob and sliding the shaft out of the mount. I only put them on when I take the doors off.

And whats even funnier is some of the older jeeps have them not mounted to the doors. somebody actually made the decision to move them.

So I'm looking at getting mine ordered finally but feel it's a terrible time because in about 3 months when I'd be looking at doing it there will be new options I'm assuming, so the question comes do I get it ordered and then regret not waiting the extra couple months or do I just wait XD anything actually worth waiting for is what it comes down to I guess. Reason why I'm waiting 3 months is deployed currently but looking at getting it ordered so I'll be able to pick it up once I get back.
Thanks for your service. My take is, I'm not sure there will be a lot of new features offered. If there's a color you like that might disappear, I'd order now. I'd wait if hoping for a new color. I don't feel like a whole lot leaks out until Jeep wants it to though in regards to changes. Price does seem to go up a little each year (and at least once mid-year while I was shopping).
Do they typically do good discounts when a new model year becomes available? Might just keep
With my current build options if that's the case.
I wouldn't expect a discount on a build. A truck sitting on a lot should be cheaper though. Of course if you have a specific list of features you want/don't want, it can be tough to find. I may be wrong but at least in my case, I signed a price agreement when ordering and I wouldn't expect it to be discounted if the new models were rolling in.

- Thus far, the new Tesla truck is vaporware. I think it will be a LONG time before we can actually buy a Tesla truck. And then, the truck will look NOTHING like the concept we saw on TV

- A V8 option would be cool, but Jeep dealers are already playing stupid games with the V8 Wranglers by jacking up the price ten or twenty thousand over MSRP. Nope. Not going to happen. And there are a lot of questions about whether the drive train can actually handle the extra torque of the V8. Makes me wonder if that's why the V8 Wrangler comes with wheels which are somewhat small. It would be easy for FCA to deny any warranty requests if the owner installed larger wheels and or tires; which will happen about seven minutes after leaving the dealer.

- I saw some discussions about Bluetooth. Pretty sure my JT audio system does Bluetooth. But I think Bluetooth sounds like dog doo, so I never use it. What were people wanting in a new audio system?

- I haven't heard any actual rumors or guesses about new JT features in the press. Likely, the new JT will be the old JT with a couple of cosmetic changes.

Sadly, I think you're wrong and it will remain as hideous as presented.

Sounds really crummy, which is why you're probably right.

Not Bluetooth, but wireless carplay. I think it uses wifi. It's a much higher quality audio signal either way, but the big deal is that it means you can get your phone's apps and maps on your radio without any cables. It also introduces the possibility that they would offer a wireless charging spot for you too.

Still learning about carplay. Does this by chance allow for wifi usage instead of data? I never listen to radio anymore. Would love a stronger connection when streaming.

Well you have to connect to the interwebs somehow, either through a modem in the Jeep or a modem in your phone. But if you have things stored offline on your phone (my preference for Spotify) then yeah you can get away without using data.

Yeah, a V8 and towing mirrors and I'd be first in line to order. Unfortunately I think both of those are unlikely.
Agreed, would love a little wider side mirrors.

My guess is the move to being more carlike in late YJ and TJ and the more recent (JK ) move to power /heated mirrors. Used to drive a 1989 YJ with the mirrors attached to the windshield so never worried about getting mirrors when the doors came off.
