Here's a thought I just had....

I'd really like a 4Xe option. It's almost certainly a winning setup for me. Similarly, UConnect 5 (wireless carplay specifically) is pretty much necessary for me to pull the trigger. If the former doesn't happen, I'll be disappointed and maybe be in less of a rush to finally shoot Daniel an email. If the latter doesn't happen, which pretty much means it's a complete carryover year with no changes at all, I'm not sure I'll even bite in 2022... We're both working from home now, and with an unvaccinated toddler, we're not really going anywhere (it helps to live in a "destination"). We've been one-carring it without the slightest hiccup for a while now, and it's honestly going to take a major change to our situation to shake that up without us actively wanting it shook.

The potential of getting Uconnect 5 is one of the reasons I was okay waiting for 2022 as well. It isn't a must have for me but it is an added convenience that I'd really love to have. I don't like untucked wires.

Fortunately we don't need a 3rd car until early 2022, when a kid gets his license, so I was able to wait out the MY change before placing an order.

At this point the I think we have to apply Occam's razor. The simplest reason to me is that there are no major changes to announce.
Or that there ARE new improvements coming that they aren't sure they can deliver due to supply chain shortages. You can't make what you don't have.

UConnect 5 is over rated. I don't know why everybody is in such a tizzy over that.

I'd consider it a future-proofing option. It would be nice to see them update the platform, and I would think UC5 would have the capability to support more cameras and such even if it takes a Tazer or similar to unlock it.

The biggest draw is the addition of wireless CarPlay. I don't really care much for the UI that most car companies develop but like the ability to do away with wires on my dash.

If UC5 doesn't happen, I'll get a USB dongle and do the armrest mod for wireless charging. It would just be nice for those things to be integrated is all.

My dealer said that he heard they were putting unconnect 5 in the Wranglers and gladiators.
