2023 Jeep Gladiator - Undercoating?

I live in a relatively Northern state, in Indiana, but Not as cold as some others.

Thoughts on having my 2023 Jeep Gladiator undercoated? Yes I plan on keeping it for a long time.

I live slightly north of your location in OH. My 2021 Jeep Gladiator gets parked in my garage nightly, so I have not undercoated it (yet) and don't see any reason to (yet.) However, I also have a pair of kids in college, and their Subarus are parked in the college lots or the driveway year-round, so they were under coated.

I bought my 2023 in January of 2023 and undercoated it right away with fluid film. I did it again before last winter and so far the undercarriage is spotless. Planning on doing it again here shortly, might write up a post about it with pictures if I have time.

You could always do what the guys did a long time ago...get some old motor oil and spray your under carriage, then go drive up and down a dusty road a few times...voila, cheap undercoating

I always DIY everything with a mix of used engine oil and lanolin wax from toliet wax rings.

Costs me a few bucks, no rust on anything I own.

just spray any lanolin based film you can find under neath. you can buy a kit from amazon on the cheap.

I live in NE Ohio, and I have my truck done with Krown which is same as lanolin oil/fluid film once a year in October. Film works great and zero rust issues. Truck looks like new underneath. We do this with all our vehicles we drive year round and very pleased.

I had a 2008 JK and ran it every time it snowed, so it had plenty of salt baths. Every October, I'd hit with Rustoleum Rust Reformer every little spot where I saw rust or surface rust. Probably 5 or 6 years ago, I started spraying Fluid Film in the nooks and crannies, inside the frame rails, and at underbody seams.

I just sold that Jeep last winter and the frame and bottom looked almost new, after 17 years of Indiana winters.

So I've done the same with my JL and will do the same with my JT.

Undercoating would probably be easier. But I know every square inch of the bottom of my Jeeps. If something was ever corroding, I would catch it very early. It also gives me a chance to spot damage or issues which I don't want to discover later, in the middle of a hard trail.

I bought the Fluid Film on Amazon with an extension hose and 360 degree nozzle for getting up inside the frame and tight spots. This year, I'm going with Wool Wax in black.

If you do this, you'll want to park your Jeep outside for a bit. The wool oil in both products really stinks, but that goes away.

Anyone have any how to's on this or any useful youtube videos, I am very new to jeeps/purchasing vehicles (always leased) and want to take care of it. I live in Michigan so I don't want the salt to get to it.
