Hi all, I don't have the options currently to do much offroad fun stuff most of you do because of personal reasons. My JT is a Rubi riding on 35's and I find the factory shock absorbers are pretty firm and tend to be a bit sensitive running over normal day to day crappy roads. Same goes for rolling down the highway so I'm thinking of changing out the shocks for a more comfortable ride. I'm hoping to get some good advice here.

Thanks in advance for all ideas!

From what I’ve heard, the Mojave is the best riding Gladiator with 33/35” tires, or with the same tires at least. So maybe that’s the way to go, but costly. Or try Bilstein 5100’s. Or if the tires you have are LT tires, you might consider swapping for reg passenger rated tires. Then limit your psi to 35 psi. What are you running now?

Yeah, the factory set up is pretty firm on the roads and makes long trips tiresome. At the same time, it is an offroad vehicle with oversized tires so I know i shouldn't expect a "Cadillac type ride". I'm just trying to prep it before i need to leave for Fort Jackson for my son's graduation in February.

I would not suggest falcon or bilstein if you feel like the factory shocks are stiff. Curious what others recommend as most find the factory shocks to be too soft.

I’m running Fox reservoirs. They are pretty good. Handle my weight in the back well. It’s not too soft imo

If you want a softer ride, digressive valved shocks like the bilateins are the opposite of what you want. Rocksport reds from metalcloak are one of the softest riding shocks you'll find. Try 32psi cold, makes a big difference too.

Zachanadandy, will their shocks work with the 2.5 lift I’m getting ready to install from ReadyLift?

They will work fine, just DONT use the shock extension brackets that come with the SST kit. Use the long travel shocks and you won’t have an issue.

I have a 23 Rubicon and was unhappy with highway speed handling. I put on a Clayton leveling kit and used Fox 2.0 shocks (as I recall, Clayton said that's what they tested their kit with). Much happier with the ride. Apparently there are many variables with "things". Some like the factory set-up and others hate it.

Hey thanks for replying Sandman 4x4! I'm on 33s now but will be moving to 35s next month. I plan on giving a little lift with the ReadyLIFT 2.5 spacer kit. I was debating between the Bilstein 5100 or the Falcon 2.1 monotube shocks but I haven't pulled that trigger yet.

Check out the Readylift terrain flex max 4" lift. It's a far more complete kit and comes with the Falcon monotube shocks (it's 3" in the rear so it levels it as well). That's what I have on mine and I think it rides great
