My husband renewed his passion for car detailing…… He’d been watching a lot of videos on Ceramic coatings and doing it ourselves.
It’s a lot of work…. This was our first time doing this - so it was a learning experience.
Friday night….. We did a thorough strip wash including iron decontamination with a clay towel to ensure no previous (factory) coatings remained.
Saturday….We did some selective polishing (the 2024 paint was pretty good with a few blemishes/swirls that needed a light polish). After that, we did panel prep to remove any residue from polishing.
Applied Adams Advanced Ceramic Graphene coating - a panel at a time (smaller sections worked best). Leveling & buffing as we went.
Sunday…. Worked on cleaning & decontaminating the wheels. Prep spray to remove any leftover chemicals. . Applied Gyeon RIM Ceramic coating.
Also on Sunday….checked the coating - buffed, prepped, and re-applied as necessary (high spots).
It was 90+ degrees and the Gladiator was in the garage as we worked. In our conditions …. We learned this Ceramic coating doesn’t need as much time before leveling and polishing.
Currently, the JT is in garage ….. We’re going to leave it in the garage to cure.
We learned lot…. Not complicated….. but there are some methodical steps involved.
Our take-away for anyone considering this….. Smaller sections are best, take your time, don‘t get ahead of yourself (don’t rush it).
