Well the inevitable happened today... after 2.5 years the windshield cracked from a rock on the highway. it's slowly moving all the way across the passenger side smack in the center.

Curious on if anyone has had the new 2024 and newer windshield replaced yet and recommendations? Go through dealership or 3rd party like Safelite?
Currently quoted $882 from Safelite in my area. Not going through insurance...

I had the windshield in my 24 JL replaced by Safelite shortly before trading it for a 26 JT. It was through insurance and they paid to put in the Gorilla glass which had come factory. Between the glass and calibration for the ACC they paid out just over $1800.00. Fortunately it was covered under comprehensive with no cost to me.

If you're still under warranty, insurance should replace it with an OEM windshield, at no cost, and no rate hike. Provided you have full glass coverage. It's a good thing to have on a Jeep.

Just paid Safelite $1003 to do mine. I didn’t realize the 24 and newer models had the radio antennas built in and needed calibration for the safety features. Got used to my $250 replacements on my 2020.

The next day I had my insurance guy throw zero deductible glass coverage on my policy 😀

I’m confused …. What does being under warranty have to do with your insurance company?

Is there some sort of law or regulation that dictates the insurance company (and/or the BANK who still has the Title) requires them to install OEM windshield?

You also mentioned - “Provided you have full glass coverage” - which, would have nothing to do with the warranty covering the cost. If you don’t have full glass coverage, you’d be paying $$ for the OEM glass (if it was required by law to install OEM).

When my 25 JT was delivered it had a big chip in the center of the passage side. Carvana replaced it under their warranty. They wanted to put in non-factory glass I said no are they could take it back. Satellite charged them $1500 to do it, had to recalibrate the camera.

I had the windshield replaced on my wife's 2025 Wrangler by safelite. If you have the adaptive cruise it has to be calibrated after the windshield is replaced, that's a couple hundred more. I went through Insurance, I have full glass coverage, paid for everything. Total was around $1500.

Sorry, I think I meant to say, as long as there is a lien on the vehicle, not under warranty.

Appreciate the feedback. The Gorilla Glass + antenna + calibration make for a pretty expensive windshield replace... damn I'm used paying the $250/300 for the JK windshields.

Probably calling insurance to see what they can do

I let my insurance handle it. Last few pieces of glass on different vehicles was done via Safelite and my insurance. My insurance company does not offer glass coverage, but my comprehensive deductible is low enough I just use it for windshields and my particular company has been fine with that.

I had mine done last year. There are a lot of variations, so it took a couple months to get my specific windshield. I did want to go with OEM. It's a relatively easy windshield to replace, and they did a great job.

They showed up with the wrong windshield first, so I'm glad I made them look at it before removing the broken one. The Mojave X windshield has an antenna built in, which turned out to be hard to find. In the lower corner there is a block of text which includes the part number for the windshield.

I went with a local company, but most in my area go with Safelite. They have great equipment, so it comes down to the tech. You might confirm they can recalibrate your adaptive cruise control, as that takes a little computer work on their part.

If you don't go back with gorilla glass it will be cheaper. It still breaks just like regular. If I had to pay out of pocket I wouldn't get it again. When my 2018 JL windshield broke I just used maps and searched windshield repair. Looked for a place with good reviews.
