Anyone else have issues with the power steering? I have very little if any power steering assist when at a standstill and trying to go lock to lock to parallel park. It feels fairly normal when moving. Brought it in for service and so far the techs haven’t found the source of the issue. There is a know issue with the power steering grounds on the passenger wheel well frame rail sometimes being loose or not making good contact. I’ve removed, inspected, filed, and wire contacts and that didn’t help. I bought this thing to wheel it and Itheres no way it could negotiate a rocky trail off-road at low speed with the current level of power assist. Waiting on more direction from my local dealership. They have a ticket open for guidance on their end as well.
Jeep has the mopar lift, 37s. No other mods that would effect the power steering. This just started happening maybe in the last few weeks.

Mine is particularly heavy in reversing my trailer.

That is great the dealer is willing to help, I would have assumed with 37s they would not have.

It does the same thing with stockers. I still have them. This is my third wrangler, had a JK and JKU previously… the power steering should be plenty capable of turning a 37 inch tire to parallel park if you consider the stresses it endures out on something like the rubicon. Which I’ve done in my JKU. There’s clearly an issue. I haven’t wheeled my gladiator yet so the steering system hasn’t been under any significant stress. The service writer and tech both agreed that the wheels aren’t to blame here. They might not be so generous if the undercarriage was all scraped up.

That’s interesting but no issue at a stop turning lock to lock?

the other perplexing thing is that mine isn’t throwing any codes. I suggested to the tech maybe an air bubble in the lines, steering fluid levels are fine… tech didn’t think air bubbles would be an issue. It feels normal when I’m moving… it’s almost like there’s a sensor not sensing the amount of effort it’s taking to move the wheel when it’s not moving so it’s not triggering the hydro assist in that situation. But I don’t know how the system senses when and how much to assist.

I grew up with ‘70’s trucks. Back then, even with power steering, it was a bear to turn the wheel when at a stop. I know it’s been awhile since the ‘70’s, but out of habit I don’t typically turn the wheel unless I’m actually moving - at least a little bit.

I just got my JTRD, only 400 miles, but I have no issue with the power steering. Easy to go full lock and back. I'm going to put on some 37s and we'll see if that changes.

Mine has a dead spot for a moment when switching between R&D. Otherwise it seems to be plenty powerful w/39s
