'24 Gladiator Willys tow rating (again...)

I've looked at a few different threads, and I'm still seeing confusion with the Willys tow rating. It seems Jeep flip flops between tow ratings throughout the Gladiator's run.

I assumed the tow rating for my '24 was 4,400 lbs, but after reading a few threads, I'm still not sure.

I went to Mopar and put in my VIN. It shows I have the 240A alternator, heavy duty cooling, and 7 and 4 pin wiring harness. That makes me think 6,000 lbs.

When I go to https://generalrv.com/towing-capacity it only shows the Willys with a 6M transmission and 4,400 lb towing capacity.

It sure would be nice if they listed it in plain sight. I don't plan to tow much weight or often, but it would be good to know I could flat tow my 4 cylinder TJ for a trip.

Does it show a factory installed Towing Package in the listing?

The wiring harness is installed on every Gladiator.

The 240 amp alternator is installed with various packages.

The Heavy Duty Cooling option would seem to indicate 6000lb towing capacity. Prior to the '24 MY, the Factory Tow Package was the option that got it installed.

It's an automatic.

The window sticker shows a Class IV hitch, but nothing about a tow package. The VIN on the Mopar site shows it has the items described in the first post and the Class IV hitch, but nothing about the tow package. The only time that "Tow" comes up on that site is for tow hooks.

My Mojave sticker does not show it - yet it's there, it's standard on the Mojave.

Your Willys will tow 6,000 pounds if it has that receiver and automatic.

I was correct! Willys automatically has aux switches and tow group.

So it will not show up on the window sticker. Willys has the TOW PACKAGE - no worries, it's a given, it's standard -

So, no messing around, no worries, no "but........but.....but"
It has the tow group, period, end of story.
Thus, it has 6,000 pound tow rating.
Don't go over about 5,000 or 5,500 for best results in wind, hills and so on.

Example - I just drove my Mojave 26 miles to church. 20 of those miles it never went over 6th gear unless going down a good grade (going down at least 2% or MORE)
And at times, it dropped to 5th gear and stayed there for a mile or so.
Why?
WIND.
Wind matters - it's not just about weight, it's about FRONTAGE of that trailer, drag caused by length and so on.

Not to confuse anyone or draw the wrath of the internet, but this must have changed in later models.
My 21 willys specifies "tow package" on the window sticker so maybe that didn't used to be standard as part of willys.
Unfortunately mine also has no aux switches

Thank you! That's what I was looking for. I do see the "Customer Preferred Package 2TW" on the build sheet.

Just make sure you have your brake controller, weight distributing hitch, max toe sticker, 2020 owner’s manual, 2024 owner’s manual, pdf printout from a random forum post in 2022, and map of every DOT weigh station between each of your destinations and you’ll be good.

Unless you have a diesel, then pack an extra 3 fuel filters.

STOP TAKING THIRD PARTY WEBSITES AS THE BIBLE. TRUST THE MANUFACTURER.

GeneralRV doesn't even have all the right options in their database for the Gladiator of that year and model. They don't even list my diesel for 2022. Do you have a Willys with a 6m transmission? No, so why would you use their data when it doesn't even match your truck?

Third party websites will only reflect the data they enter in to their database, and that data can be wrong or outdated. They are not a single source of truth. The manufacturer should be your single source of truth.
