Post Recall you will receive an addendum to your existing manual. I figured I would share some key points within the addendum

1. At Every Oil Change Interval As Indicated By Oil Change Indicator System.
- Replace fuel filter and drain water from the fuel filter assembly

2. In states that use Biodiesel blends greater than 5% (B6-B20) [Example Minnesota in summer months] oil changes and fuel filter replacements are required every 8,000 miles and should not exceed 6 months.

3. [B6-B20] Fuel must be used within 30 days by driving (to less than a quarter tank) and filled with fresh diesel fuel.)

4. Priming the engine : add 2-5 gal of fuel to the tank, Without your foot on the brake push the ignition switch two times. Wait 30 seconds (do this 2x)

5. Commercially available fuel additives are not neccessary for the proper operation of your diesel engine.

6. For "extreme cold" (sub 20 degrees) use "Mopar Premium Diesel Fuel treatment" to assist with cold starts.

7. Diesel used must be from a 'reputable supplier' and be of 'good quality'.

8. No. 2 Diesel fuel meeting ASTM specification D-975 Grade S15.

9. If the vehicle is exposed to etreme cold (below 20 degrees) or is required to operate at cold temps for prolonged periods, use climatized No. 2 diesel fuel or dilute the No.2 diesel fuel with 50% No.1 diesel fuel.

10. If available in your area, a high cetane "premium" diesel fuel may offer improved cold-starting and warm-up performance

11. If the "Water in Fuel Indicator Light" remains on, DO NOT START engine before you drain the water from the fuel filter to avoid engine damage.

12. Fuel dilution of lubricating oil has been observed with the use of Biodiesel fuel. Fuel in oil must not exceed 5%.

---- My take
1. Use fuel from known and trusted fuel stations.
2. Avoid Biodiesel with this engine if possible.
3. Fuel filters at EVERY oil change now..... That's more cost...
4. Before starting vehicle ensure that the water in fuel indicator light turns OFF every time.

Bad engineered hardwares usually requires high maintenance. That's gonna be couple hundreds every oil change now. Gotta pays to play ?

I do question if there is any liability on the manufacturer for these additional costs.

OEM fuel filters are not cheap!

$235 for a diy change every 5-7k miles.

Going to have to take a serious look at what it will take to convert the system to spin on 2micron cat filters, and hoping someone will drop a cp3 conversion soon…. This is silly.

There should be. When we purchased, we were told "In Writing" via the user manual that the FF needed to be changed every other oil change not to exceed 20k. Well, we're still making payments and "owning" owning the vehicle and they've changed the rules mid stream, increasing out cost of ownership. Unless they have something written in fine print precluding them from doing so, it would appear to me they or Bosch should be on the hook.

Now this being said...I wish the same could be said for the air filter. I was just in and wanted to pick up a spare. They quoted me $87 before tax for a freakin air filter. That's not crazy, it's stupid.

Doing the math on ownership cost increase. (8,000 mile oil changes)

Fuel Filters for 100k miles....
$430 - $500 for 100,000 miles of service (if you change the filter yourself)

For folks that take it to a dealership to change the filter.
$1200 - $1600 for 100,000 miles of service

Scotty Kilmer grates on my nerves. Sounds like he's been drinking some bottom shelf alcohol.

So if you have jeep waves, the fuel filter should now be included... they conveniently left that out.

I will continue to use my dual-blend HotShots regardless.

Drained the water fist time @ 6,500 miles, had no water... does that mean quality fuel or does water accumulate because of something else ?
