Alright, bring on the gasser guys with the hate….

Anyone else develop an oil leak on their diesel yet? Appears to be coming from the passenger side “front” of the motor. I haven’t taken the belt cover off yet…. But so far guessing it’s somewhere up there.

Just looking to get a general idea from those that HAVE had a leak to see if there is a common area…

For general information- leak has started to show sometime between 10-12k miles ??‍♂

Definitely leaking from an area around the pully…. (Pully that is directly below the alternator.)

Dealer appointment is Friday. Would put money on they are going to call it an upper oil pan gasket…. It’s not. ?? good times ahead.

Photo from below doesn’t show much…

That’s what I’m reading quite a few of. Will see what the dealer says- and see turn around time. Others reporting 2 days wrench time… though parts seem to be the long pole in the tent… (for sure, what isn’t with availability and shipping ????)

We will see Friday morning. Hoping this isn’t a leave it parked here with us for the next week+ ordeal.

Mine has had a leak out of the dipsick hole from the block since new. I really started to smell it once I delete the exhaust. But I only notice it when i drive it heard or pull a trailer. I replaced it once and now it doing it again. So when I get a chance I'll fix it again. I also have a rear axle seal leaking to, but it's a work truck, so problems will arise.

Did you ever get the leak resolved? I just bought a 21 JTRD and have noticed some oil build up which appears to be coming from the oil pan gasket. 12k miles on mine.

First round yes valve cover, and cam position sensor… they fixed this last month.
How did your leak work out?

Just discovered two new leaks. Sensor has a seeping leak on the passenger side this time.? (Photo below, guessing cam position sensor)

and the larger/more concerning leak is on the drivers side. Found the oil filter hair loose, re torqued the filter will see if it resolves this tomorrow. If it isn’t the filter, it’s somewhere right around the filter…. (Not a ton of eyeball room in this area….) ??‍♂?

It was a nightmare, the dealer I took it to had new techs working on it and did a sloppy job. It ended up having to go back and was there for about two months because they were waiting on a gasket for the camshaft.
It ended up being a leak from the timing chain cover. they had to remove the valve cover and oil pan and reseal those as well.
im back to square one as I’m still seeping oil from the same spot. But I don’t want to go through that again so I’m going to wait a little while before I take it back

Yeah it was a headache, if you take it and go through something similar I would advise you to contact jeep customer care. They have the ability to expedite parts and offer extended warranties. They gave me 5 years of ‘max care’ warranty because of my situation.

Thanks I will definitely look into this. The first oil leak turned into a similar situation to yours. “Oil pan gasket” (clearly was above the oil pan….) turned into timing chain gasket, which turned into, in addition to the timing chain gasket it’s the valve cover and cam sensor…. To be just a couple thousand miles beyond this repair and already leaking again has my head ready to explode.
This could very well be the tipping point and a for sale sign posted. I’ll go back to a dedicated you Jeep and go a different route for the every day vehicle.

To really frost the cake- the hood is bubbling on all 3 visible side edges…. ?

Bring back the timing belts, i'd rather deal with replacing a timing belt every 100k miles than deals with leaking timing chain covers. Rtv usually leaks at the T where the cover mating with the head and block. It doesn't help when the diesel also has bed plate (2 piece block) as well. That's where mine was leaking on passenger side. Trans, crank, timing cover and tons of other stuffs has to comes off to reseal. I ended up fixed by JB welded the seam as i don't wanna goes through all that and potentially have other issues.

It's a feature.

Almost every Gladiator owner I know has this lol. The edge of my hood on the passenger side is bubbling and I'm seriously debating just paying to bring it to a reputable shop. After all the horror stories of warranty paint work from Jeep dealerships... I don't know if want to waste my time.
