So, here's what mine does: On startup, I get the normal 3-5 second clatter until the filter pressures up, it goes into warm up idle for about 1-2 minutes, drops down to around 600-900 rpm, depending on ambient temperature, then starts ticking like there's a lifter failure for about 1 minute, then stops. If I bring rpm up, ticking subsides a little. Other than that, it clatters, squeaks, hisses, squeals, grinds and whistles. Especially when I step on the brake or put it in gear. That's in addition to the engine randomly cutting out, like the fire got snuffed. I don't know what's wrong with piece of shit, but there's quite a few people at Jeep that need their asses handed to them.
Sounds like a trip to the dealership.

So long as the ticking is not ramping up when giving it throttle and sounding like a bag of marbles, you are fine and is more than likely just fuel injector noise. Like @Lunentucker mentioned, it is a good practice to have an occasional oil sample done to see where the wear metals are trending. If you have excessive valvetrain wear, the iron values will flag.
Yeah, I don't play corporate money games, and I don't get oil samples on new vehicles. I'll use it like I have every other vehicle I've owned for the last 40 years, if it fails prematurely, and Jeep/Stelantis are honorable people, they'll repair or replace it, if not, I'll go Albanian on them. What I won't do, is tip toe around it, baby it, or lift one finger to make it last longer. it fails or it doesn't. Jeep steps up and does the right thing or they face the consequences, just like everyone else. There are no exceptions.

If it sounds like a sewing machine it’s all good. Sounds like an old Cummins diesel you may need to bring it in.

I don’t care how many billions of them are out there, I’m no fan of the 3.6. I hope you get it resolved and Jeep takes care of you.

Is it normal for the 3.6 on my 2023 JT to tick. I hear ticking from the engine when I'm sitting at a light with the windows down. My old 2012 Liberty had a 3.7 and they ticked when at idle. JT has only 2k on it. Other than that , no problems at all. Truck is a beast on the beach. I never had a truck ride as smooth as this truck over ruts in the sand. I do get a click from the front end when I first take off in the morning , then no noise after that. I'll get them both checked next oil change in 5 K. I love this truck.
I was pulling into traffic so I had to get on it like normal (nothing crazy). Engine started ticking, and it wouldn’t shift back up to 7/8 once I got going without going into manual mode. Check eng light came on as well. Drove to the dealer right away. I have 31k on it no prior issues. They changed the cam and lifters last week, now it’s getting the transmission replaced. The dealer said it’s unusual at such low miles and that it happens well over 100k typically. Still love this JT!!

I am getting alot of miles on mine, change the oil alot. Very soon I will have 96,000 engine sounds like a sewing machine , runs strong and transmission holds in gear strong guess I'm blessed this has been one of the best trucks I ever owned. I have put this thing through sooooo many dusty ,muddy , gravely, & steep dirt roads it is astounding how much this thing can take I run it a minimum of 150-200 miles a day. It just honestly is.

Wha
Mine sounds like it's swapping holes.
Is it any worry if you hear what sounds like a steel drum band tapping our a Bob Marley tune ?..lol ok just kidding.

I think a week or so ago I was watching a rebuild on an overhead cam motor and the tech said failure to put assembly lube on those Cams prior to first start can result in damage from the get go that will just worsen as time marches in leading to a failure.
Also there are manufacturing defects that can happen in casting and grinding of the Cams or the lifters etc.. there are so many things that can happen it's hard to tell until it is tore down as to the plausible cause. My uncle who helped me put the lift on mine really wanted me to switch to a slightly thicker oil. He has been mechanic for many years. Even to this day has worked on 3.6liter in his van and his daughters Challenger. I told him well, I have had good success so far 79,000 (at that time) and I do change it often and prior to the oil minder kicking on..I usually change around 15-20% life. I run amsoil 0w-20 signature series. Have since the first oil change at about 4000. The Garage never changed mine not one single time in 95,000 miles.

Mine has a definite ticking sound, but I can only hear it when the hood is up. I discovered it when I did a oil change a couple days ago. It has just over 3k miles and is very quiet with the hood down.
Are you sure you're not hearing the injectors pulsing?

I'm not sure what it is. It is a definite rhythmic sound, but can only be heard with the hood open.
I'm willing to wager, its the injectors if you only hear it with the hood up.

Have someone run it up through the rpm range while you listen........"IF" said ticking gets louder........then it might be something else. Doing a diag vis a forum is kinda tough
