Two Part Question:

1. When the temperature outside is 32°F (0°C) or colder, what’s your procedure for starting the engine?

2. After the engine is running, what signs do you look for to know it’s ready to drive?

I start the engine, get in and drive SLOWLY till it comes up to operating temps. Then I drive regular.

I typically remote start a couple minutes before I walk outside. if I did, I walk outside get in and leave. No waiting.

If I get in and start the truck, I give the idle a moment to dip to or below 1,000 RPM - but that is only because it lessens the transmission banging into gear.

After that, I give it a mile or two to before whooping on it - but if I need beans before then I'm getting them.

No change in cold vs hot weather antics.

I simply start it and move out. Usually by the time I've gone 1/2 a mile, I'm getting heat. Of course before I even move, right after starting, I hit the cancel auto start/stop button and turn on the butt toaster (heated seat). Then it's drop in gear and go, no muss, no fuss.

I start it and watch for the RPM to drop below 1000 before I shift in gear. Then I idle down my driveway (1/4 mile) and drive normally except avoid wide open throttle until oil temp gets above 150. At that point I consider it warmed up. This is pretty much what I do in the summer also it just takes a bit longer.

I do about the same. If it’s outdoors and cold, meaning 20’s or lower, I remote start it for like 10mins.

Jump in. Hit the start button. Then pin the throttle to floor so it warms up as quick as possible.

Joking. I remote start and let it run for 5-10 min.
One of countless reasons to never buy an ex rental car. When I lived in CO, I worked at enterprise/Alamo/national out of a regional airport. When it was cold out, I saw people come in and rent brand new cars. Literally the first renter or two and pin the throttle to warm it up faster. It pissed me off, but I couldn’t do shit about it even though I was in charge of that fleet’s maintenance and logistics. It was mainly National corporate customers.

you probably can with the recommended oil weight being the viscosity of water.

Remind me never to drink the water at your house.
