In all my years following the EcoDiesel, I have yet to find anybody with high mileage on one that hasn't had significant repairs made to it.
Those with the GDE tune and other tunes have had many problem-free miles. The last I checked, Vern was approaching 350,000 miles on his engine.

I'm at 81,000 (bones stock) and haven't had any major issues, plus I do a lot of heavy towing.

I thought the Feds clamped down on tuning (deletion or bypassing emissions) diesels?

Yes, the EPA did clamp down, however, they cannot control the fact that these tunes can now be sold from Canada and elsewhere around the world. There are also smaller companies here in the U.S. that are still making and selling tunes for the Ecodiesel. It seems like the EPA went after the big guys, but so far, they have yet to target the small guys.

Plan on being married to a emissions deleted diesel unless you can restore it when it comes time to trade it in.

I'm planning to disable the EGR and keep all the emissions components intact. That's how Ecodiesel owners pass inspection in strict states like California. If you want to remove emissions components, then you could always sell private party instead of trading. You would save a lot of money doing it that way.

The last few minutes of this video pretty much sums it up. They want the torque of the Ecodiesel put in the more stable platform of the Gladiator.

Im still waiting but if a good deal comes up on a loaded max tow or Rubi then I am likely to cash myself out. What I really want to compare is the engine strain, responsiveness, and fuel economy differences between the two while towing in the 3k to 4k range. I really got to hate towing 3k behind a JKU for mid range distances (500 mile round trips). So much I would no longer do it and just used the old Tahoe or Tundra. I could really care less about towing over 5k because for long distances on a regular basis it's too much weight for the JT (any midsize) to comfortably do without wearing ear plugs.

I’m going to run the gasser for a while then drop a 2.8 Cummins in it. I will cost about the same as adding the price of the diesel and deleting parts with programmer. Have Ram 2500 Cummins for towing.

It could but it would be worth it. By the time you add price of the ecodiesel , programmer, egr delete, and exhaust . You are looking at $8000.00 plus.

Could you show me the adapter from the 2.8 to the 6-speed, or the 8 speed auto?If you could get it bolted to a (gas) 8 speed how would the computer interface part work since the 2.8 is stand-alone, plus the programming would need to be customized.
That engine is made for older applications, all I’m sayin’

I talked to the Cummins rep a sema he said could be done no problem. Haven’t sourced all the information. Have a buddy that works for ZF. Advance adapters makes a lot of goodies.. The guy that has CA Conversions has the ability to make adaptors. He does all the Allison to Cummins for dodge and ford. They have stand alone computers for controlling and interfaces. You need to go to sema amazing what can be done.
