The 8 speed trans has a 4.7 to 1 first gear that is lower than a JK with 4.56's. With 3.73's you won't see 8th much.
So what is better off road, factory tires and 1.5 spacer lift,, or 315-70-17's factory wheels and no lift. ??
I'm 315/70/17s, and still scrape a lot off road. So I'm going to say having both is better. I don't see how having a lift only would be any better (or worse, other than the wider footprint). I'm putting a small spacer lift on soon.

A 1.5 spacer and 35's should lift the belly 2.5 inches. What is the limit on the factory Fox shocks. When you lift, ride quality usually goes down.

went to my great local tire shop. He can do 4 315-70-17 BFG KO2s C rated for just under $1500 OTD and i have mine sold for $100 each to a good friend. Just do that and 1 inch spacer---- done. Run the factory rims and shocks. Will look really good without changing much. Not a warranty killer.
Just wondering what that could do to my MPG.

No lift no rubbing plenty of room in the wheel wells.

Do you have a side view to see the overhang?

I have a 22 Sport S with no air dams.

The base sport still comes with them tho. I originally ordered a base sport, but had the dealer cancel it and ordered a Sport S with more options. Jeep still sent the dealer the canceled base model and it came with the air dams.
Don't fret about the air dams. They come out easy enough, there are a bunch of screws and push pin-thingies but they will come out, then if you're handy with a Dremel, you can trim the floodlight covers and really do it up right.

Thanks. I think I can skate by in New Mexico with that slight overhang. With zero offset, full articulation, especially with the Mopar 2" lift should be no problem.
