I for one; Am tired of excuses just to raise the profit margin.

6.4, 5.7, and etc along with the heavier springs isn't another 50 grand. (I read that you were taking about the DIEsel).

Same transmission. It is bullet-proof. Heavier steering parts? Pull the other leg.

Stella can do it cheaper. They want another PT cruiser income wind fall.

Don't jerk the customer over and we will come back. We will be dedicated.

The 392 JL was a wealthy man's game.

It sounds like the JT 392 will be as well.
The solution is to do like a fellow Jeeper I know did . He bought a 5.7 and wiring harness and etc.. and did the swap himself. Did it take hime awhile yes.
Option 2:
AMW and pay 30K and have a swap performed. Save 20k.

.versus buying a different midsize truck with those turbo 4’s. Not knocking ‘em
Give them a little time, they'll be knocking themselves!

I think this thread has jumped the shark and it's time to ignore.
What.....you're not into internet strangers arguing over whether other internet strangers were right or not?

Seriously though....someone earlier mentioned being reluctant to take the potential MPG hit on a 5.7. Made me realize that all my 5.7s in other vehicles have gotten the same (or better) MPG than I seem to get with the V6 in my current Gladiator. With 35s, rowing gears, and the hills around here I took a pretty big hit.

I'd actually lean towards that trend continuing if I opted for a 5.7 on a Gladiator. Given the way I drive, and how much less effort it would take to get this metal rectangle on wheels moving.

Gladiator is getting 17-18 (just got a tank at 18.5 by babying it).
525 HP in the Challenger and it averages 20-22. Long trips at 80mph+ do even better

My wife always thought our small trucks got good gas mileage.

Small trucks get crappy gas mileage. Who knows why. I had a 2009 4x4 Ford Ranger, V-6,

1992 Mazda B2200 (78 HP four banger, great truck by the way)

And two Gladiators.

My full size F150 FX4 4x4 SuperCrew with a 5.0 V-8 got better gas mileage than those others.

A brick compared to an arrow. Yup, makes sense.

Take a look at the F150 - wheel openings, any ground effects, the underside, bumpers, even the mirrors on the doors.
There's a lot that goes into making the mainstream trucks fuel efficient.

Honestly if I had a 392 JL (or JT) it would live a comfortable life of date nights, get weekly baths and spend most of its time under a cover in the garage. I cringe watching guys on the trail beat on them.
So no, none for me.
The wife's 392 is named "Side Chick" for that very reason.

The Gladiator line needs and deserves a legit tow package upgrade for $100k plus with leaf springs out back over Dana 60's front and rear and it'd own the market. Hell sell it for $120k with 37"s, offer the base 392 on 35"s for $100k, and then $70k for the 5.7 or $80k with the tow package. The pencil pushers may think they will lose 392 sales if they offer the 5.7, but Ford is selling plenty of garbage EcoJoke Rangers and Raptors while not having any trouble selling every last Raptor R.

Whoever brought up the Bronco Raptor its trash. They tried to sell the EcoJoke powered POS at a V8 premium. Comparing the cheapest V8 powered hard-core offroad rig to street cars is ignorant and childish also. Its in the elite V8 4x4 sales with the Raptor R, TRX, G Wagon, and Rovers which are all far more expensive.

No offense but I hate leaf springs . Rough as a cob. Wear the bearings out in your back with rear leafs. Just simply hate them .

Beat me to it. And we should pay more for inferior suspension? Hard pass. Why would I want a modern Jeep with no articulation. Even my XJ got 4 linked and coil overs after axle wrap killed multiple drive shafts.

You and about 5 other people would buy such a thing. No way I would waste $100K on a Gladiator setup like that
