I said this upthread, and I will remind myself...

...when I could get a 5.0 Coyote V-8 in 2017 in an F150, which had about the same HP and TQ as the 2017 Mopar 5.7, and all for a measly $2500, I’m thinking that as much as I’d love to have a V-8 in a Glad, anything more than Ford charges, is too much.

How long will that take? What about the next president?
Hopefully, 2026, but only Stellantis has the answer to your question. Next President: I have to be careful not to make my response political. So, I will answer your question this way.🤞

Your right 5000 lbs.

Mad jaspers point was, jeep is doing a poor job with a motor thats been around over a decade, the pentastar, with quality control and stocking replacement parts for often low mileage motors. They are not building our confidence with regard to investing in a newer more complex powerplant like the hurricane.

I know someone that recently filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy because they bought a used Silverado, 2 or 3 years old. One of the lifters went bad and it was just out of warranty at 74000 miles. He was still paying on the truck and could not afford to fix it so now we pay for it. He replaced it with a used Chrysler 300, just over 100k miles. It developed the tick and is in the shop. He only put about 5k miles on it.

These motors are trying to do too much, made by incompetent people, hired by greedy people and regulated by people that most likely have never done any real honest work in their entire lives. Putting a 4 cylinder in a 5000 pound truck is asinine. Jeep, Toyota, gm, can keep their thumb hole stock truck engines.
I get what you're saying, but as I'm far from a Stellantis apologist, I think the industry as a whole has been standing with an umbrella in a political hurricane of emission standards. Yes, the 2035 federal mandate for EVs has been just recently set aside (for now), but states like California still have their ZEV mandate coming. Manufacturers are running with their long-in-the-tooth ICE programs as all R&D has been directed at hybrids and EVs (not saying this is a good thing).

If you knew you were forced to marry a new woman in 2035 (who is very expensive to please), would you spend money to wine and dine your current short-term girlfriend?

The only change was the waivers for CA - CA still has a valid, legal law on the books and it's still possible to enforce it. Yes, there will be law suits and such, things may be delayed, but for now, the law stands.
It's an industry in turmoil and facing constant uncertainty.

The politician can pass all the laws they want to look good to their side. But in reality some things just won't work and $$$$$ rule. Things are just going to cost more so if you are on a fixed income you could be in for a rough ride.

I understand the delima auto manufacturers are in and in a perfect world, jeep would just pull their vehicles from those markets that are mandating extreme rules. The JL/JT are not compatible with green anything and they never have been. Iam not interested in California compliant jeeps, lawnmowers, stoves or straws.

I don't have the numbers But I would venture to say that more Jeeps are sold in Calif than any other state.

We sure have something in common there!

Yes and no - stats can show a lot of different things.
California has the most Jeep Wranglers overall, while Oklahoma has the most Wranglers per capita.
When considering total Wranglers (including older models like the YJ and TJ), California is at the top of the list, followed by Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida, according to Hedges & Company.
However, when looking at Wranglers per capita (population-adjusted), Oklahoma takes the lead, with Michigan, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and New Jersey following closely behind.

For 2007-2025 JK, JKU, JL and JLU the states with the most Wranglers per capita are Oklahoma, followed by Michigan, New Hampshire, Wyoming and New Jersey.

If you look at total Wranglers including the 1987-1995 YJ and the 1997-2006 TJ, the top states for Jeep Wranglers are less of a surprise. Number one is California, followed by Texas, New York, Pennsylvania and Florida.

The states with the least amount of Wranglers per capita start with Mississippi, followed by California, Washington D.C., Tennessee and Alabama.

I’ll buy one if they get rid of the wet clutch transfer case.

I'm guessing Jeep cares more about the number sold than per Capita numbers.

Which is why California gets away with making their own rules. It's way too big of a market to ignore. And several states follow California's lead too.

Remember way back when on the The Price is Right where all cars won had "California Emissions?" Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Anyway, the CA car market is something like #6-#7 in the world. It's too big to ignore and from a scaling position easier for the manufacturer to comply with Sacramento's regs rather than have different parts/systems for the rest of the US.

Yes, too big to ignore. Not first, not in sales in the past 3 decades, and only 3rd place, but still big.

It would appear although there are more Jeeps in CA, those numbers include the early versions. My guess is that many of those came up from Mexico where older Jeeps are common and VAM was big years ago.

California comes up third. Still, a big market, but not first place.
The states with the most 2007-2018 JK, JKU, and 2018-2025 JL and JLU Wranglers are New York, followed by Texas, California, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
